  • Avoid this place at all costs

    August 11, 2022
Lived here for a year as well. The apartment was in HORRIBLE condition. There was black mold all over the bathroom upon moving in even after they "cleaned the place" (it was so dirty upon move in that we had to clean the entire place again). When we mentioned the black mold to Jane and Michael, they literally just sent someone to paint over it. The bathroom has no fan, and the window is painted shut (all the windows in the whole apt were actually painted shut except for 2 in the small bedroom), ...
so there's no way to ventilate the bathroom at all, or the apt for that matter. There was also a huge cockroach problem. We saw a good amount of cockroaches in every room, especially the bathroom and bedroom closest to the bathroom (one of my roommates woke up at 3am because a cockroach was crawling on his head, no exaggeration). To their credit, Jane and Michael did promptly send an exterminator who figured out the source of the problem(there was a huge cockroach infestation in the building’s basement), but I did still see at least 3 cockroaches after the exterminator’s last visit. Don’t be fooled by the cheap rent either. The building is so poorly insulated that our monthly electric bills were over $200 multiple times. Even then, it was still very uncomfortable as the heaters only fully worked in one of the three bedrooms. One of the windows in the small bedroom was cracked and they never fixed it, so I had to just tape it together. This is a smaller thing too, but many of the electrical outlets are not grounded properly. I got shocked at least a few times unplugging things, and once just from touching an electric guitar amp that was plugged into the wall. I have no motivation to make any of this up/exaggerate anything, and also have photo/video of almost everything I mentioned. I promise the proximity to Belmont isn’t worth it. Save yourself a whole lot of inconvenience and find another place to live.

  • Horrible Living Conditions

    May 16, 2020
I lived here for a year, and was appalled at the living conditions. I’ve lived in “vintage” buildings before in Chicago that were very well kept, but the landlord Jane has sadly really let this place go. It is absolutely infested with roaches, and all she did was put traps in the main hallway. They were coming out of the walls and ceilings, to the point where one fell from the ceiling right next to me while I was cooking and almost landed in my food. There was no heat source AT ALL in the ...
bathroom or kitchen (which by the way goes against building codes). The ones that are in the bedrooms barely work. All winter my poor cat and I had to huddle under a heated blanket to stay warm, which is very telling because my cat hates being under blankets. The floors were so cold, it felt like walking on ice if I didn’t have shoes on. I put a thermometer in the apartment to test the actual temperature, and it was barely over 60 degrees- not even close to being up to code. After I complained multiple times, all Jane did was give us a space heater- which then spiked our electric bill up even higher, and barely made a difference for comfort. This place had the highest electric bill I’ve ever seen because it’s so poorly insulated. On top of that, my roommate’s bedroom window was broken before we even moved in, and Jane refused to have it fixed. We had multiple instances where things broke in the apartment, and she would either not respond, refuse to have it fixed, or it would take days for her to send maintenance out. We went almost a full week without being able to shower because the water was coming out brown, and she wouldn’t send anyone out to fix it. She went through 3 maintenance guys in the time I lived there- and they all said she was cheap and wouldn’t let them do what needed to be done to actually fix the issues. Towards the end of our lease, we mentioned the broken window to the maintenance man she had at the time. He graciously fixed it without asking Jane for permission, because he felt so bad for us. Paying rent was a hassle, because you can’t pay online and you have to drive your rent check over to her office, which is only open during certain days and hours. The parking situation is atrocious, and there aren’t nearly enough spaces for the residents. The building isn’t secure, and literally anyone can walk in without a key. Overall, just avoid this place at all costs. It’s insanely overpriced, especially for the living conditions.

  • Bad Landlord/Roaches & Mice

    April 24, 2018
The price is way too high for this place. We were constantly getting mice and roaches in our apartment. In addition, mold started growing in our bathroom and when we called about it, nothing was done. As we were getting ready to move out our landlord was consistantly bringing people into our apartment to look at it without warning until the day of. Extremely unprofessional. The rent payment process is much more complicated than it needs to be and the washer/dryer units are expensive and ...
inconvenient. I feel like I was lied to when I was touring this place. I would never recommend it to anyone.

Biggest apartments for the money and low utility bills! I loved the 3 years I spent at this building. It was clean, quiet and they let me take my dog without charging a pet deposit or pet rent. Great location, good parking.. and great hot water too :)

  • Windsor Apartments - Like out of a storybook

    July 30, 2015
As my first apartment as an adult, the Windsor Apartment building has exceeded my expectations. Located in the prime Belmont-Hillsboro neighborhood of Nashville and a minute walk to Belmont University, this beautiful 1925 building has huge bedrooms with a ton of natural light, gorgeous original hardwood floors, and glass doorknobs. And the price for the area cannot be beat!
