It's tiny but has huge potential
September 20, 2015My particular unit has a very large terrace for New York City - about 20 ft by 8 ft. and faces East for morning sun. This is the most valuable thing about the apartment for sure. The rest of the unit is a lofted studio - about 420 sq feet. Just a little too small for two adults to live. The lofted space fits a double bed and not much else. From what I've seen, all of the units in the building have very different flooring, walls, doors, and other components - which is consistent with how the ...management team works. I have never met the landlord and do not even know his/her name, but there is a guy that I think lives in the basement that takes the garbage out and somewhat maintains the building. Upon moving in, I had to rip out the carpeting myself because of how bad it smelled and because management wouldn't. I replaced it myself out of my own pocket. I also had to repaint everything because it was done extremely carelessly. This building and apartment has massive potential because of the terraces, but it is very poorly kept. I am in my second year and the only thing that has kept me here is the terrace. It's such a rarity in NY but I really wish some care would go into the building - it really wouldn't take much to make extremely nice units here. The kitchen is tiny and needs to be updated badly, and same with the bathroom. There are a lot of big windows but they've been improperly installed and you can see gaps between them and the wall (not cool in winter!). Because of the lofted bed area, there is a slanted high ceiling which really opens up the space, and the big windows flood it with light all day long. This is a great apartment for a minimalist.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on scale of 1 (below average) and to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider needs as part of the school selection process.
