Great potential but cheap, cheap, cheap management
August 17, 2018This apartment has a great location in Monona and has great potential, but unfortunately all of the maintenance is cheap. I lived here for a year, and upon move-in, the apartment was filthy; there were cobwebs, dust, black mold on the ceiling in the bathroom, and outlets that didn't work. We noted all of this on the move-in check-list and then cleaned it to our liking. Upon move-out, it was much cleaner than when we moved in, but management still kept part of our security deposit because they ...had to clean the oven (although the oven has no cleaning setting). In 10 years of renting apartments, I've never had part of my security deposit kept, and this circumstance in particular was shocking because of the move-in condition and improvements we made throughout the year. Additionally, the apartment has electric heat, which cost us between $100-$300 per month throughout the year. Our most expensive bill was over $300/month, and when we asked for better insulation around our front door, the management installed a cheap, ineffective tubbing around the seal of the door. Within 2 weeks the tubbing was falling off and the door remained drafty. Management will respond promptly to your concerns, but expect them to use cheap and ineffective repairs.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
