last July, when I saw a sign on the exterior wall of this building advertising a vacancy. It turned out, though, that that vacancy was not going to be immediate, and would extend into the following January because the unit advertised still wasn't right. It WAS worth the wait. Apart from its spaciousness -- a one-bedroom, two-bath plus den -- about a thousand square feet, or twelve-hundred sq. including its TWO balconies, the price was a bargain for this neighborhood -- one of the best in West Los Angeles; literally in the shadow of the great Getty Center museum -- and includes central air and heat in the rent ($1825/mo.). A surplus of closet space plus TWO storage lockers. Constructed in the early 1960's, the 21-unit building, possessed of pleasing '60s Moderne idiosyncrasies, is quiet and immaculately kept by the owners, who seem to strive to keep their tenants safe and happy. A courtyard filled with, by my count, 55 potted plants, small trees and shrubs. Full-size trees and grass outside my windows. Neighbors respecting one another's privacy, and a tranquil neighborhood lending itself to walking. THIS is a place one really enjoys coming home to in the evening, and waking up in in the morning. I'm very fortunate to have found it.
