The apartments here are visually appealing. The finishes are reasonably polished (though appliances really should be nicer, given the monthly rent.) Maintenance is responsive. Dogs are allowed and welcome. The neighborhood is pleasant and quiet.
Unfortunately, there is a major problem: the floors are so thin that you can hear EVERYTHING going on in the apartment above you. I mean every step. When my upstairs neighbor pulls out a chair, it sounds like loud feedback from a speaker. I regularly ...
wake up at 2am when the person living above me walks from their bedroom to the bathroom.
It's unfathomable to me why a company would invest so much on an apartment building and then skimp on basics like insulation between the floors (and elevators -- there's only one for four floors of many apartments, making for some very long waits.) It's a shame, really: it could be a nice place to live. But the noise is simply intolerable. Obviously, I won't be renewing my lease.
