Deposit
January 2, 2020Apartments seem nice, are in a great location, etc. My issue is with the administrative side. I applied to this apartment but my circumstances changed and I ended up not signing the lease or moving in. I emailed the management team to let them know I wasn't able to move in as soon as I knew. Apparently they never got it because they changed management companies and didn't bother forwarding emails from their old email addresses to the new one. I reached out several more times and they finally ...got back to me this morning and told me that my "refundable" holding deposit will not be refunded to me. I knew I wouldn't get my application fee back (obviously) but I specifically asked when applying if the holding deposit would be returned if I wasn't able to move in for any reason and was told "yes" by Kyrtin who works at Canvas. I don't believe that them keeping my refundable deposit is legal; I never agreed to these terms so I will be finding out my rights before taking next steps. If Canvas refunds my deposit, I'll update my review with that info.Property Manager Responded
