Roaches and Carpenter Ants

I would not recommend Chelsea Apartments based on my experience. I began reporting roaches and ants immediately after moving in on June 22, 2026, and continued seeing and documenting roaches of different sizes and carpenter ants for more than two months despite repeated pest-control treatments. When I eventually asked to leave because the problem persisted, management maintained that I would still have to pay a two-month lease termination fee.

scheduling early on, resulting in me waiting for treatments that did not occur when expected. Management later acknowledged the scheduling confusion in writing.
Because the problem continued, I obtained a second opinion from an Orkin specialist who inspected my apartment, identified carpenter ants, and told me the infestation likely predated my move-in by approximately 3–5 years. He recommended more extensive treatment, and I provided his findings and contact information to management.
To be fair, management responded to my complaints and arranged multiple treatments. However, I continued seeing and documenting pests between and after treatments, which is why I continued submitting work orders through August. Management ultimately declined to waive the two-month termination fee, stating they had made reasonable efforts to address the issue.
Management later informed me that they changed their pest-control contract to begin treating entire buildings monthly in addition to individual work orders. I hope this improves conditions, but the change came after I had already dealt with the problem for more than two months.
I also experienced other maintenance issues, including a repeatedly clogged toilet, a leak near the kitchen, and washer problems. I have maintained dated work orders, photos, and videos documenting my experience. If considering Chelsea Apartments, I recommend carefully inspecting your specific unit, asking about its pest history and the current building-wide treatment program, and reviewing the lease’s early-termination terms before signing.

Thank you for sharing your concerns regarding your experience at Chelsea Apartments. We understand that dealing with pest concerns can be frustrating, and we appreciate you bringing these matters to our attention throughout your residency.
Upon receiving your reports, management took the concerns seriously and made repeated efforts to address them. Pest-control services were scheduled and provided to the apartment on multiple occasions, including treatments and baiting for both roaches and ants. Our pest-control technicians reported that, during their visits, they were not finding significant numbers of live insects and were primarily observing a limited number of dead pests. Nevertheless, we continued to respond to work orders and requests for service in an effort to resolve the concerns.

scheduling issue and continued coordinating additional service visits.
When the resident provided information from an outside pest-control company, management also reviewed that information and considered the recommendations provided. We recognize that the resident continued to report seeing pests between treatments, and we responded to those reports by continuing to arrange pest-control services.
Management's decision regarding the requested early termination was based on the terms of the resident's lease and the fact that the property had continued making reasonable efforts to address the reported concerns. While we understand that the resident was dissatisfied with this decision, the lease termination requirements remained applicable.
In addition to responding to individual pest-control work orders, Chelsea Apartments subsequently enhanced its pest-management program by changing its pest-control service agreement to include monthly building-wide preventative treatments, in addition to treatments requested for individual apartments. This change was made as part of our ongoing effort to improve pest prevention and provide a more comprehensive approach to pest management throughout the community.
We also responded to the other maintenance concerns reported by the resident, including replacing the toilet and a belt in the washing machine in a timely manner.
Chelsea Apartments strives to provide residents with a clean, and well-maintained community. We take resident concerns seriously and will continue to evaluate our procedures and preventative maintenance programs to improve the experience for all residents.
