    I'm a fairly new resident been there about a months and a half. While there's been some bumps in the process the staff truly care. I know I can be a bit particular I like to say I'm organized go with the flow. Biggest thing for me is I have access to everything I am supposed to and it all works. At first not everything worked. But it systematically got fixed. With that being said the staff make this place. The staff are truly amazing. My leasing agent was Ibrahim (Ibra) I can tell he truly cares ...
    I think that's the most important quality in a leasing agent. Thank you Ibra! They also have Helen and Ali both from my experiences are amazing! Both genuinely care about the residents. Even when you go back after being there a bit they know you by name and all 3 still care about you and make sure your unit is good. Lastly, and certainly not least lets not forget Daniel. He's the community manager and I appreciate his communication and his strong ability to problem solve. He is also very personable which is a huge asset for Cortland. I only give 5 stars when warranted. While this place isn't perfect (no place is) having staff at an apartment that genuinely care is hard to find. If you are considering a new apartment consider Cortland at Van Dorn. They do care about residents and try help make your place yours. I am happy to call Cortland at Van Dorn home already!

    Do not live here, I regret renewing my lease. The rental office is not able to be reached by phone or email. When you go in person they’ll tell you that they’re going to call you back with an answer and they won’t. Maintenance issues will take weeks to be resolved. I am currently on week 2 of issues with my heat and it is 8 degrees outside. There is no urgency on the office management’s side, they truly do not care so don’t waste your time.

    It has been a month and this place has been the best apartment we have ever had in 3 metro areas. Fireplace is nice and the open kitchen. The parking garage is convenient along with the general location. To have a balcany with trees outside for the cat to look out is nice also. Lastly, the washer and dryer and dishwasher have been a real time saver also. they are doing work around the property. I don't see many of the things that were wrtitten about in past reviews. They may just need to ...

  • RUN AWAY

    I am a former resident, and my entire experience was AWFUL. - My unit was infested by rodents, and property staff continued to promise me the issue was fixed. I continued to report rodent problems for 5 months! One member of the staff found a dead rodent in my pantry and asked to dispose of it in MY trashcan! - Ceiling and wall tiles were falling apart in the building hallways. You could hear and see rodents within the open holes in the ceilings and walls. It took MONTHS for property staff to ...
    fix this. - Awful odors in the buildings. Property staff attempted to fix this issue but attaching CAR AIR FRESHENERS to the air vents in the hallways... safe to say that didn't fix anything. - There was also a fly infestation in the building. Property staff fixed this issue by spraying pesticides in the building causing all of the flies to lie dead inside the building on the carpet. Hundreds of dead flies were scattered all over the hallways for MONTHS before property staff cleaned them. - One time in the middle of the night, I saw a car on fire in the parking lot. I recorded the scene while the car proceeded to EXPLODE. Police and firefighters arrived on site and investigated. - The day I moved out of this property, news reports released that 2 people were SHOT inside the building I lived in. So scary! PLEASE do not live here! It is not safe, not clean, and not livable. What made everything worse was that it was impossible to contact property staff by phone or email, and the office hours were very limited. So you have to take time out of your work day to hunt somebody down in the office to report issues and receive updates. Even through all of these issues during my stay, the property would not let me break my lease until I threatened legal action! For the sake of you and your loved ones, STAY AWAY FROM THIS PROPERTY.

    This property has gone downhill since the beginning of the year. The conditions are disgusting. There are rodents in the walls and you can hear them scratching and squeaking every single night. There are twelve different kinds of bug infestations and a constant smell of fetid standing water.

    I do not recommend this place if you want to sleep well at night. Rodents live in the ceiling and they do nothing to help. They do not answer your email and barely answer the phone. Pest control come once a week and literally told me “eventually” whatever is in my ceiling will leave. Maintenance is horrible, I have a hole on the floor that I am still waiting them to come and fix it. Only positive point is the people who work in the office are kind.
