Unsafe
August 22, 2024yes on my 1st night here i heard gun shots. Where i walked down and saw the cop cars by the houses behind the building. Also have placed me with student when durning summer they wanted to party and not a student need to sleep to get to my job. I don’t blame the student I blame the staff and how crappy they really are! This is my third review I moved here only 1st lived here got a week and half here that’s how much I hate it here. Tonight came back from a date there were homeless man lurking ...around looking at me making me very unsafe. On top of that they were looking into peoples cars and these are just students. I have someone taking over lease if they don’t throw another stone in front of me. The long explanations it’s been my problem here and as everyone can started from day one.Property Manager Responded

Breath of fresh air!
June 11, 2024Saw this place on my way to work and decided to drop in and check in out. My experience with the leasing office was a breath of fresh air. Jason was quick to invite me to sit down with him and talk about what the community offers. He was attentive, friendly, and was not fazed by my many, many questions. 2nd week of college- no housing
August 28, 2023Promised housing by Aug 19th and told us the apartment wouldn’t be ready until the 31st only a couple days before move in. Now, 3 days before the 31st, communication has been severely lacking and it doesn’t seem like they’ll make this deadline once again. They apologized for the late notice the first time, yet they’re about to make the same disservice to their residents a second time. Find housing elsewhere.Property Manager Responded

Beware!
August 23, 2023This apartment complex notified me one day before I was supposed to move in that my move-in date was being pushed back an "estimated" two weeks. I am a graduate student from another state with no connections in the city who drove 24 hours to be here. This created a major predicament within two days of starting my graduate school workload. The delay was said to be caused by the construction crew not meeting their deadlines. However, I have driven past the apartment complex and you can clearly see ...that there is still a good amount of work being done. This indicates to me that this agency could have given residents more timely notice that there would be a delay. The apartment complex offered two options to "compensate" the residents both of which required tenants to find their own short-term housing. The first option offered two months of rent credit and the second offered a $500/week stipend. Neither option comes close to adequately compensating for the financial and emotional impacts that Haven at Elgin has caused on their residents. Yesterday, residents received an email stating that their August rental installments will be pro-rated and then credited back starting from August 19th to the dates their apartment is ready to occupy, not the whole month. This essentially means that they will be keeping half of our August rental payments despite the fact we may not be able to move in until the very last day of the month or possibly September. I believe that transparency and accountability are important when running a business which is why I am so disappointed to see that Haven has been deleting reviews from residents who have been impacted by their mistakes. While I assume that this will be resolved within the next few weeks, future residents should be aware of how this complex navigates obstacles.Property Manager Responded
