Water bug cockroaches

I moved in on March 15 2026 and there was a recurring water bug (giant cockroach) issue in this complex. Three of my neighboring residents have told me they have experienced similar problems and advised me to keep all drains closed. As a result, I constantly keep my shower, bathroom sink, and kitchen drains shut because bugs could come through them.
While management was responsive to a point, I was told they were not aware of a building-wide bug issue. However, multiple residents I have spoken ...
with have experienced similar problems over the past year. The primary recommendation from Ana (Property Manager) and Jose (Maintenance Technician) was also to keep my drains closed at all times.
Management arranged for pest control, but the treatment only consisted of spraying the interior of my apartment to kill off any that were already inside. My concern is that the underlying source of the problem may extend beyond individual units.
For transparency, here is the timeline of what I experienced after moving in on 3/15:
• 3/19 – Found a dead roach in the kitchen?• 3/24 – Saw a live roach?• 3/25 – Jose installed sticky traps?• 4/1 – Pest control treatment performed?• 4/7 – Another roach sighting?• 4/8 – Offered a second treatment?• 4/8 – Purchased and installed roach gel and bait traps at my own expense?• 4/9 – Killed a roach in my unit?• 4/14 – Found a dead roach in a bathroom cabinet?• 4/15 – Second pest control treatment
Since 4/15, I have not seen any roaches inside my apartment (as of 6/10), although I have continued to see them outside the building.
I appreciate that management provided pest control services, but I wanted to share my experience so prospective residents can make an informed decision. Other than that, Ana and Jose are helpful and responsive so I appreciate them being a resource.

Long Beach Terrace Apartments is the best hidden gem of Long Beach. Not just simply because of its location...walk down to the beach. Literally. you have all you need. First and foremost, a professional on site team. Maintenance lives on site and he is amazing. The Manager is so friendly and so welcoming beyond any compare. We have on site/reserved parking. That alone is worth GOLD in LB. The building was built in the 50s and has a lot of charm. Most interiors have been redone. Great wood like ...
flooring. Lots of closets and cabinets (my layout does not have a walk in closet...could be the one drawback). No AC but you will only miss this two weeks out of the year. Laundry on site is available.
The location is perfect. You are almost right in the middle of Belmont Shores and Downtown.
I couldn't be happier with this location and this community. I love where I live. Truly. But please don't tell anyone. I'd rather this place remain a hidden gem.
