September 15, 2022It is a good place to live. Clean and quiet. Very reasonable price. Trust me, i have seen many apartments but non had price like this. Also there are two gyms. They are in need of an ego check.
April 16, 2019I signed in to leave a review. I am not a resident, however I was a potential customer. First, the prices on here do not reflect the real pricing. Secondly, I love that I was treated as if I could barely or never afford to live there while touring. The leasing office has an agent who needs to learn customer service or find another job. He was belittling, condescending, and unprofessional with regards to his competitors and with how to treat potential clients. Third, I only had gotten to view ...the apartment after sending several emails and having enough stubbornness to sit in the lobby for a while. Fourth, I sent a follow up email to the agent AND his manager only to not get a response. We were ready to apply.. Why would I want to apply to a place that I have to do this much follow up TO GIVE THEM MONEY? Thankfully, I got an apartment nearby with a better view, better customer service, and better pricing, hands down. When things go south, you need a staff you can depend on, and I highly suggest you look elsewhere. I work in customer service, and I have to say if you are looking for apartments, RUN from this one.Property Manager Responded

Great experience for four years
June 15, 2018My wife and I lived at the Avana for four years (bought a house in March). Overall, our time there was very positive. The amenities were great and our neighbors were friendly. The concierge desk was always courteous and helpful and the leasing staff was responsive and fair with us (even during our move out). When needed, repairs were made timely and the cleaning crew does an amazing job keeping the building clean. Overall, a positive experience for us. I would highly recommend. The perfect apartment tower for the contemporary city-life!
July 6, 2017My fiancé and I moved to Alexandria for work purposes and we wanted to get a taste of the tower-style city life living that Avana offers, and that’s exactly what it does. We compared Avana to skyline, shirlington house, parkvue, town square at mark center, and many more apartment towers, and Avana was the best of them all! we got the premier renovated single room floor plan (850 sq ft) Pros: - Overall unit and building quality- clean, hotel-like experience and modern, contemporary style living ...- internal appearance and room layouts feel new and gorgeous. - Staff are very helpful! (Andrew is a great guy); Paying rent and requesting maintenance is a breeze. - Great amenities- pool, patios, fire place areas at night, gym, game rooms, computer room, tennis court, dog parks, outside grille and large TV with patio decks and tables, fridge and coffee rooms, lake and park with ducks, etc - Great views- high tower condo-like appearance. Were on the 10th floor (they have 15 floors)- huge triple window view from living room - Exceptional location. Metro station and bus right outside, highway is a minute away, DC right around the corner- everything is easily assessable, and eventhough they have a gym, theres also a social 24 hour fitness a walk away - Besides the city ambience, the unit itself is very quiet. You cant hear your neighbors from the walls - In-unit washer and dryers - No bugs! We are on 10th floor and haven’t seen a bug in our unit since we’ve been here! - Resident Diversity- residents are a mix of all backgrounds so if youre a social butterfly, you can make friends easily :) Cons: - Very expensive. Lease goes up 100$ after first year. monthly pay to park - No storage space. Not a lot of room. - No ceiling fans (it’s a minor thing, but we would sleep better if they had them) - Hard or impossible to reach anyone for maintenance, etc. past work hours. - As with most apartment towers, your walking distance from where you park to your unit is somewhat long, so carrying groceries or something as simple as having to go back to your car to get something can be inconvenient I think this is a great place if you love the lavish city-life and arent trying to reside a long tiem. I think the gigantic, rising price after each lease and the need for more space is why we will eventually move, but for the time being, Avana has been an excellent chapter in our life and we dont regret it.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Very good deal!
September 9, 2015I moved here in April 2015 and live in a 2bd 2bath apt. The rent is abt 2000 including parking and utilities. that gets you a great view of dc,spacious apt,washer/drier in unit,well kept pool,fairly responsive maintenance, modern lobby, well priced parking for each resident (i live with 2 other ppl),very decent gym, friendly and helpful staff (ask for Andrew!)...those are the best features of the top of my head. Cons are that sometimes maintenance gets requests wrong but in he end every thing ...gets done properly and it doesn't take too long. A great combo of ideal price and location
August 31, 2015We're right on the highway and have a bus stop right outside our building. In addition to being a short drive away from Arlington, Avana is really an ideal location at an affordable price. Nice Amenities, but Poor Management
August 26, 2015I've lived at BLVD2801 for several years now. The amenities are, for the most part, top-notch. A rooftop exercise room with views of the District Skyline. Rooftop barbecue. Party room with more TVs than a strip mall full of sports bars. A decent-sized pool. All very good. Also, the apartments themselves are fairly nice, with a lot of square footage available for the rent you pay. However, the current managers are not very good at their jobs, and risk turning a good property into a poor ...one. Maintenance requests tend to take a week (or more) to be answered, even when a problem is significant. And these answers come only after repeated phone calls and emails to prod managers into action. Additionally, the managers have (of late) not done a very good job with rent. Several residents, whether they pay by check or online, have been charged late fees when their rent was on time ... and those fees have been reversed after (again) seriously prodding management. Ordinarily, I would recommend an apartment complex like this. But given the current management, i cannot recommend it.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Good and Bad
August 15, 2015I needed to move to the DC metro area for school and work and wanted something affordable and safe. The application process was brutal. I got a lot of initial information from one of the guys in the office, but it turned out he misinformed me. He told me the wrong prices for the wrong lease terms. He also forgot to ask me to sign paperwork while I was in their office. Then he called me, when I was out-of-state to have me correct his mistake. I spoke to the manager, explained my problems with ...that guy, and told her I didn't want to work with him anymore. Once the other guy in the office took over, everything went smoothly, but beware to double check the information anyone in the office gives you. The washer and dryer inside the apartment is a huge positive, but to find an affordable rent here you have to go with an unrenovated unit. Carpets instead of hardwood, strange cabnits and counters instead of the beautiful interior they show on their website. The commute to DC is reasonable and the apartment has a gym, pool, and tennis court, so I thought the little extra rent would be worth it. Plus the apartment holds packages and is slightly set back from a main road, which always makes me feel a little safer. However, once I moved in, the problems began. It is hard to notice at first, but the building is settling and nothing is level. Once we started moving in our furniture, we noticed that everything is slanted. We used a marble to confirm and it rolled off of every surface in the unit. We had to go to Lowes and have them cut small wood planks for us so that we could stick them under the furniture to level everything out. Furthermore, it took the maintenance staff about two weeks to complete a request. They told me they would contact me to schedule a time to come make the repairs and never did. I had to keep checking in with the front desk to remind them that I still needed the repairs. I felt like a babysitter. I should only have to ask once for something to be fixed, not 8 times. I also learned that there is not only a fee to transfer apartments at the end of the lease, but there is also a few to renew your lease for the same apartment. I have lived in many apartments and have never ever heard of charging people to stay in their same apartment. It is less work and expense for the apartment for the current resident to stay, so they are just taking advantage of residents. August 4, 2015The apartment complex is older, the amnities are nice but there are trade offs that not desirable like the units are not cable ready, their cable out is over the which means if you get cable it has to dine with unsightly cables ran over the entire apartment. The air condition in the building is big problem. You have run your unit at least 50 degrees all day to get the home to minimum of 70 degrees. You pay utilities based on the community usage not your own. Their a lot cosmetic cheap upgrades to ...make the property look attractive for the tour but it's not worth at the price point they selling the unit. The property is grave need of utility upgrades especially for a conditioning and over apprearance of the garage which constantly has water dripping from over head pipes. Nice Dogs, Friendly People
July 23, 2015This apartment is great for pet and amenity lovers. With amenities like a tenant only dog park, fitness center, business center, pool, lounge, and bbq patio. Recent renovations has finished its high end look. I've been here for a year and it has been a great experience. The only down side has been the adjustment needed to make these upgrades to the property and how far it is out to rail metro station.
