Two years ago, I moved into my fiance's apartment and hated it. Everything screamed, "a male lives here!" We have hardwood floors and walls made of cement, so we can't really hang anything. We are on the first floor of a busy street, and can hear everything that happens outside. There are no outlets in the bathroom and the kitchen has very little space. furniture and a big, ugly red couch. But it's the time spent on the couch that makes this apartment home. It's Sunday crosswords, TV dates, and major cuddle sessions that fill my heart with joy, not where we do it. It's surprising each other with home cooked meals made in our tiny kitchen and eating on the coffee table, because there is no space for a kitchen table. It's where we decided to bring a dog into our lives, shortly followed by our beautiful daughter. While we save for our wedding and our future, we decided to stay for another year. Sure, our daughter's crib is in the living room, but this apartment is filled with memories, laughter, and the greatest amount of love you can imagine. That is what makes an apartment a home.
