Thin walls and small parking spaces

I wished someone would have told me how thin the walls were. We live on the first floor so maybe I should have expected loud noise, but the people above us had kids and the kids need a playground. Also, the parking spaces were extreamely small and its hard to get out of your car sometimes. Now the leasing office and staff are extreamely nice and helpful so that's good and the waterview we have is awesome, but the constant running above us and the small parking spaces are enough for me to want ...

Best place we have ever lived and not just in the state of Virginia!
We lived in a 2bd/2bth apartment on the 1st floor. I know some people on here have complained about noise and you have to understand you are in an apartment- there will always be some noise (we lived by the entrance so we even got to hear every single person that came in and hung around the elevator). If noise is an issue for you, I would suggest top floor (Which has vaulted ceilings!! Too bad we missed that one.). Really not a ...

The apartment is very nice, we had one washer issue which was fix immediately, never had ANY issues with the apartment. Unfortunately we brought in fleas from being down by the pond fishing, the BEST part of that though? Within a couple days River House staff had a company come in and treat our rooms and took care of the problem immediately! If you have any pest concerns they take care of that head on, same goes for maintenance. Being honest, you may see some waterbugs and the like, just reach out to the staff and they will take care of it. You live by a river AND in Norfolk, its going to happen.
The Staff there are phenomenal!! As happy as I am moving to be closer to family, I am so sad to be leaving the River House Family behind. I wish I could take them with us. They bring the apartment community together with fun activities, parties, and events and are just so involved with their residents you will not meet another group of people who truly care.
The amenities are really nice, the pool is relaxing and there's always friendly faces chilling too. A new grill was installed this year. The fitness room isn't glamorous, but can definitely get the job done and is super convenient. I've never been in there and had it be over crowded. You can check out bikes to go biking around the boardwalk or through the neighborhood (maybe stop and get some coffee or breakfast?) or go kayaking? Fishing off the apartments dock is pretty good too.
There is plenty of parking, the only downside (and literally the only iffy thing about the complex), is that the spots are on the smaller side. If our roommate can fit his Toyota Tundra though I think you can manage.
I worked at Norfolk Naval Station and the drive was great, no freeway and took me about 10-15 minutes to get through the gate.
Extra perk- Orderup delivers all the yummy foods from downtown Norfolk :).

We lived at Riverhouse for two years and what started out as being a wonderful place to live quickly turned into a nightmare. The staff is always changing here. We were constantly over charged on our bill as a result of the staff's "mistakes". A one-bedroom apartment is extremely overpriced and isn't luxurious at all. You can hear the neighbors above you stomping at all hours of the night and the parking spots are too small. When complaining about them, you're always given the "Well, they are up ...
to code" speech. My car door is ruined from dings and dents from other residents. They have begun to lease to a lot of rowdy college students, which doesn't help the atmosphere at this place at all. The gym is a joke; machines are old and squeaky. Moving out is a whole other story. They require you to professionally clean your carpets even if they don't need it and you must provide proof via a receipt. The last woman in charge in the office wasn't very friendly either. I noticed another review said they make up stuff as they go which I completely agree on. They make up different rules as they go about the most ridiculous things. I would HIGHLY recommend you looking ELSEWHERE in the area. This place is a living nightmare.

Nice place to live, however in no way shape or form luxurious. Calling this place luxurious is like calling Taco Bell "Fine authentic Mexican food". The staff didn't really seem to know what they were doing (they could not explain my bill however, they were proficient when threatening me with legal action if I didn't not pay it). The quality of my apartment was below my standards and I felt like I was significantly over paying. There are not enough spaces in the parking lot for residents. I had ...

We have lived at River House for a little over three years and we could not be happier! We started in a 1 BR and when a 2 BR became available they let us know and made the move so simple! Our 2 BR is so spacious. The kitchen is of a decent size (and this coming from someone who cooks everyday), our dining room fully accommodates our 6 person dining table with extra room on all sides. Our bedroom is of a perfect size as is the guest bedroom. Really, the apartment is of a great quality, but the ...
best thing about it is how helpful our management team is. Additionally, we have access to bikes, pool, kayaks, and paddle boards for free (well, included in rent anyway) in the warmer months. Finally, one of the best things for us besides the kitchen and in-unit laundry is the fact that our packages get delivered to the office and we are notified in a timely fashion of their arrival.

Location is in the center of everything, very close to the base and downtown Norfolk. Community is gated and the buildings are all controlled access as well. Having the interior hallways outside my front door forms a buffer against flies and other flying pests, I don't think I've had a fly in my place since we moved in here!
Maintenance has always had a fast response which I greatly appreciate. The few issues I've had have always been resolved quickly, in most cases taking less than 24 hours ...
after I put in a request to be fixed. I will say the rent may be more than some places around Norfolk, but the service you get along with how nice the place is makes the price well worth it.
Nice pool and gym with weights and cardio equipment on sight, kayaks and paddle boards available for check out to take out on the river which the complex sits on, and several nice little mom and pop style restaurants and drinking establishments less than a 5 minute walk from the complex. And mentioning those establishments...there are no issues with noise from the outside. River view is amazing as well.
I live here now and plan to keep living here as long as I'm stationed in the area. This is honestly the best place I've ever lived.

Outstanding staff, courteous and responsive maintenance engineers and great neighbors. Apartment is well-insulated thus noise-free and floor plan is perfect for us.
