I've lived in this building for some time, and here are the main things you should know:
-Poor ventilation: In my opinion, this is the biggest issue. The air ducts are old and collect a lot of dust, which regularly ends up inside the apartment.
-Odors from other units: Through the ventilation system, cigarette smoke (and sometimes other odors) from neighboring apartments often enters the bathroom, both in summer and winter.
-Kitchen: There is no proper range hood, and the kitchen exhaust is not ...
very effective. As a result, cooking odors tend to linger in the apartment.
-Laundry room: The building has only 3 washing machines and 3 dryers, which is not enough for a building of this size.
-Building management: Maintenance requests and repairs are generally handled quite slowly.
-Heating:The heating is controlled by the building management and is not always powerful enough. During the winter, you may need an additional space heater.
-Balcony door insulation: If your apartment has a balcony, be aware that the balcony door is poorly insulated. I had to use tape to seal the gaps and reduce cold drafts.
-Intercom system: Even after you move out, the building may keep your phone number linked to the intercom. This can be quite frustrating because you may continue to receive calls from delivery drivers for residents who live there, even though you no longer live at that address.
The two most important issues to keep in mind are the ventilation and the insulation, as they are the main causes of dust, odors from neighboring apartments, and cold air entering the unit.
