decent building but management does not vet residents

The building was intended for doctors and nurses when it was originally built near the Montefiore hospital.
That explains the many studio units in it. Alas it was subsequently opened to everyone.
For example, potheads. I lived on the 8th floor and the guy next to my apartment is a chain smoker and
pot smoker, that is his only pleasure in life. The problem is that I've been exposed to 2nd hand smoke inhalation
for months now and have suffered health wise.
Management vouchsafed no reply when I ...
brought this to their attention in 2 distinct ways.
The 2nd elevators has been making scary sounds for weeks below the 6th floor, finally was taken out of commission
and now we've been stuck with just 1 elevator.
When balconies were repainted last year, offgassing lasted for 3-4 months and everyone had no choice but to
inhale toxic fumes while living in these apartments.
I've seen roaches in the building on several occasions, including my apartment.
Parking is deeded and good but come 4th of July expect unexploded rockets to have landed on or near your car.
During the colder months there is heavy diesel smoke wafting across the parking lot from a heating system presumably,
in the direction of 80 Guion Place. Management harassed me with a letter, dubbing me a chronically late payer.
Yet unlike the potheads in this building I've never missed a payment, nor have they been late.
Which is easy to prove with cancelled checks in court.

The building is an older building but it is first rate! The building has gated parking, in building laundry facilities. The neighbors are polite and maintenance requests are handled quickly and completely. Excellent building and staff.
