I lived there for Nine yrs., and the first Seven were very good to good years. Management was encouraging and supportive of activities and organizing of events and we were able to use on a regular and consistent basis the community room to organize and form community within the building. After the pandemic we had new management, (management had changed several times in a short period), and once management had settled in, (in the last 2 years), life there began to change. called, the Des Moines Police Department, on such numerous occasions, as to have the police department itself say that they would file charges against the company for not taking adequate measures to keep their residents, (who are 55 and older, "Seniors"), SAFE!, Residents are Mentally/Emotionally, bullied "Bullying": by the same folks who have been there for years, and can "now" get away with it, with no consequences) and Physically, (in some case(s), actual physical altercation(s), w/documented concussion)! having been a wonderful place at one point in time it has deteriorated into a toxic environment that I wouldn't have young people live in, much less retired and older individuals who simply want to live out their latter years in peace. They have also closed the community room so there is no community. Originally, they stated that it was because of the cockroaches and bed bugs, (beginning with the latter December of 2023), that they were still unable to get under control,(as of 10/16/24, they had still not accomplished). I had never in my entire life, (and I am 69 years old), had a cockroach, for any length of time and never in my life, had bed bugs. After 9 years, with the last two being simply deplorable, my significant other, our dog, and myself found it,(out of necessity, the gentleman who did the physical assault is still living there, and my partner couldn't take it anymore), time to move. I was looking forward to living there the remainder of my days, too.
