This used to be a nice place to live. It’s not anymore. The management team that took over in the past year could care less. They play “cute voice” but don’t actually solve problems. They always find a way to make it anyone’s fault but themselves.
Maintenance is awful. It takes multiple work orders, multiple calls, and e-mails to get anything done.

Okay but not great

Overall, the location is convenient and the place is livable. Moved in several months ago. The pool is mysteriously empty all the time and looks gross. My apartment came with a lot of “normal wear and tear” that I feel should’ve been fixed prior to move-in. The gym is minimal and the bathrooms seem to be never cleaned. I say visit before you sign. They are as “luxury” as their title would suggest but that’s okay as long as their price remains reasonable.

hawthorne seems a nice and quiet place to live, but that's not true, now there are neighbors smoking marijuana all the time inside and outside the apartment, and making a lot of noise, in this property there is no policy for those problems? Is it a safe place for the owners? I think not

I would not recommend these apartments to anyone. From the hassle we went through just to sign the lease, to just now being locked INSIDE our apartment for 30 minutes because the top lock was broken, none of it has been worth the price. Everything is old and worn out. There are paint drippings on everything from whoever painted last. It honestly was like the apartment hadn't been cleaned in years when we moved in. No matter how many times I put in a maintenance request, the dish washer still ...
fills with disgusting, stinky brown water after use. The toilet has leaked from the back several times, and I've put in a maintenance request for that before as well. I cannot believe I was trapped inside my apartment because the lock was so old and worn out.... honestly thank God we had a screw driver to remove the first piece, but even after that it was a struggle to get the piece keeping it locked out. Once we removed it, we noticed there was a crack in the lock that was stopping it from working properly. I'm so tired of Hawthorne.

My perspective might be different from other renters since I have owned a unit at the Hawthorne for 5 years. I have experienced at least 3 management changes - which always causes an upheaval in day to day operations. I have been very pleased with the direction management is taking the Hawthorne since it was purchased last August by Weidner Apt. Homes. Lauren, the on-site manager/director always takes the time to respond to my concerns whether it involves barking dogs, disruptive residents or ...
maintenance issues. The complex has a resort atmosphere with two pools, a hot tub, fitness room, communal BBQ grills and a clubhouse. The location is perfect; 3 blocks from the light rail stop at Indian School Rd. People seeking an apartment home in mid-town should ignore the past negative reviews of the Hawthorne. Management is taking the necessary steps to improve the quality of life here. This is a great place to live and I'm sure I will be able to give the Hawthorne an "Excellent" within the coming year.

Please Please Please try to avoid this apartment complex. Old management as well as New management people are terrible. They will scam you any way they could. You will see random people getting into the apartment complex. The front apartment gates are broken most the time. At night,you will see random people with the uniform getting key (which they put under the flower bushes) and coming into the apartment complex. Scary environment with homeless people down the street. At night, the area was so ...
dark (don't think about running outside) . You will see cockroaches in the mail room. There was a notice by USPS mail about the mail theft recently. They will say things verbally but they will never send you email to confirm things. If you live on the 2nd or first floor, you will get awakened in the middle of night from the shouting or talking from neighbors or loud walking upstairs neighbors. They only upgrade the front swimming pool yearly but refused to upgrade the keys which were all broken. Get somewhere, there were really nice apartment near the Baltimore fashion square which was about 10-15 drive only. For maintenance, it depends on who you will get. Recently it have been great but don't expect too much. My Air-con wasn't fit and was told multiple reasons why it can't get cold.

BEST FLOORPLANS AVAILABLE FOR THE SQUARE FOOTAGE. 2 POOLS AND HOT TUBS TO CHOOSE FROM. WE LIKED THE PREVIOUS MANAGEMENT COMPANY MORE. THEY ARE NOW CHANGING THINGS JUST TO CHANGE NOT NECESSARILY TO IMPROVE. CLUB HOUSE IS NOT AVAILABLE AFTER HOURS AND THEY DID NOT DO A GOOD JOB FIXING APARTMENT AFTER RECENT WATER LEAK ON THE THIRD FLOOR BUT WE STILL LOVE THE INSIDE OF OUR APARTMENT. THEY NEED SOMEBODY TO COME IN AND RESCUE THE STRAY CATS IN THE COMMUNITY AS WELL.
