If you're looking for a way to shake things up, why not fly with the birds, stalk with the tigers, or play around with the monkeys at the Baton Rouge Zoo? It's a great place to let it all hang out and act like a kid again, without anyone giving you any weird looks (well, not too many at least). Kids and kids at heart alike, as well as anyone who loves animals, will get a kick out of this zoo, and the many interesting beasts that call this place home. Fascinating creatures make up all of the massive space of the Baton Rouge Zoo, so sometimes it can be hard to decide where to go first. Should you take in the monkeys, or go check out the elephants? Play with some parrots, or fool around with some monkeys? Though any place is a good place to start, one great place to begin your adventure is the at the Safari Post, where to the doors of your experience with animals will begin. Follow the road to find yourself in water treatment marsh, where you can find a number of gorgeous lakebirds like swans, ducks, geese, and maybe even some pelicans, lounging around. Going further, you'll end up in the Africa section, home to the several of visitor's favorite animals, including rhinos, giraffes, and zebras, as well the big cat exhibit, which houses all of the great ferocious felines we know and love, such as lions and tigers. Even further in you'll find yourself in a world of colorful aviary specimens in the Parrot Paradise, and on down the road, you'll find the Gibbon Island, home to a bunch of fun and funky primates. Also look out to the Otter Pond to see playful little creatures frolicking in the surf, and the birds of prey exhibit, home to some of the most fiercesome birds in the park. Further down the road you'll find the small cats exhibit, and, nearby, the Flamingo Café, where you can chow down and watch some gorgeous flamingos at the same time. Further on you'll find yourself in the Birds of the World exhibit, to find a number of fascinating flying beasts, until finally hitting Australia, home to many of the interesting animals of the outback. There are also numerous educational opportunities available, from classes to summer camps, for children and adults alike to learn more about the natural world around them. Baton Rouge apartment-ites looking for a chance to get back to their youth, or just explore the world of animals, need only take a trip down to the Baton Rouge Zoo to relive their days of fun.
