The main problem is that, when one does find delicious French cooking, more than likely you're end up with a hefty bill by the end of the night. For those looking to enjoy the tastes of France, but don't want to have to break the bank to have a delicious meal, need only take a trip down to Le Central, the place for cheap French eats in Denver. To start out your meal, you should try one of Le Central's fantastic appetizers, including Escargot en Brioche, Petite Chevre Fondu a la Provencale, goat cheese, flavored with olive oil, topped with balsamic onion marmalade and bread crumbs, Charcuterie du Central, a collection of pates and cured meats served with Dijon mustard, red onions, cornichons and croutons, or salade de betterave, with braised red beet salad, Danish blue cheese, hard-boiled egs, and mixed greens in a tarragon vinaigrette. They also have a number of delicious salad and soup options to start your meal. When it comes to dinner, you can choose between Les Viandes, the meats, of Les Poissons, the fish. Les Viandes include entrecote de poivre, grilled rib-eye with a three-peppercorn demi-glace, escalope du veau Milanese, pan-fried veal scaloppinin topped with procuitto, paramesan and a Cabernet marinara, lapin en cabousel, rabbit stuffed with onions, celery, brioche, and veal, with a port and plum reduction sauce. For the fish, there's cuisses provencal, pan-roasted frog legs covered in a ragout of tomatoes, onions, capers, olives, garlic and lemon juice, lotte au saffran, seared monkfish with creamy artichoke heart and saffron sauce, or cabillaud a la remoulade, cornmeal-crusted Pacific cod with key lime and red pepper remoulade. For an even less expensive option, there's the Prix Fixe menu, where for twenty-three dollars you can your choice of appetizer, moules farcie, mussels on the half shell, or poireux vinaigrette, poached white of leeks with vinaigreette, parsley and chopped eggs, and your choice of main course, either jarret d'aguneau, lamb shank with onions, garlic, herbs and tomatoes served with polenta, or sauman en croute sauce choron, salmon and tarragon flavored fish mousse wrapped in puff pastry, baked, and served with tomato bernaise sauce. You also crepe normande for dessert.
