There are a number of restaurants in Detroit for apartment-ites to discover, but after a while the everyday just gets a bit boring, and you need something off the beaten path. One place that's very different from the everyday eateries is Detroit's Traffic Jam and Snug, where you can get a huge selection of foods, all made from scratch from their own bakery, brewery, and even dairy, so you know that every bite of food will be entirely fresh. If you want something different from the norm, always fresh and always delicious, then Traffic Jam and Snug is your perfect spot. To start things off, you can try their delicious Carolina low country crab cake, the Help Me Elvis, I'm in a Pickle , breaded, deep fried pickle spears with dill-ranch dressing, the Blue Hawaii Quesadilla, with bleu, Asiago and cheddar cheese and fresh pineapple salsa, or a twice baked potato, or you could try one of their fresh salads or delectable soups. When moving on to their main courses, you have a large number of choices, including deep fried Canadian smelt, Madras meatloaf, beef and veal blended with leeks, carrots, apples, and curry, the Ms. Natural crepe, crepes filled with spinach, sprouts, sour cream, onion, tomato and three cheeses, or the Yekik Wet Ethiopian platter, split baby red peas, yellow lentils, and collard greens, with injera bread. Don't get too full, however, since there's a number of ambrosial desserts, including the baked bread pudding a la mode, with chocolate chips, nuts and rum soaked raisins, or Carlotta Chocolatta Ice Cream Cheesecake, wrapped in coffee ice cream and covered in hot fudge, sprinkled with ground espresso.
