Miami plays host to a rich Art Deco culture, and the Lincoln Theatre, in the heart of Miami Beach, is no exception. First, don't confuse it with the movie theatre that's also on Lincoln Rd.; this is the original culture-fix for classically-minded Miami apartment-ites. The exterior of the building does indeed boast a grand, luxury, Art Deco-vibe, but what's notable about this locale is that it's home to the New World Symphony, one of the few major symphonies in the city. Occasionally the Symphony offers free shows, but there is a lot more on offer as well, such as chamber music or themed performances. The theatre is also pretty famous for having an orchestral academy, which offers classical training on music or vocals, and the official site offers info on tuition and admissions. Once in a while they offer literary readings, but this is few and far between as the theatre is better known for being the hub of the Symphony. Prices are very cheap for standard shows ($15), but expect to pay between $50-$90 for full-blown, orchestral concerts. You do get what you pay for, however, so don't be surprised if you're whistling an old Beethoven jam on the way back to your Miami apartment.
