When it comes to pubs, apartment-ites have seen it all, and though Philadelphia may have its fair share of them, apartment-ites will still find it hard to differentiate one from the other. Each has the same faux-British atmosphere, the same food and the same kind of beers, with very little variety between locations. With Dr. Watson's pub, a wrench is thrown into the works and things change up for the better. With a varied and unique menu, a large selection of brews from around the world, and a Sherlock Holmes-inspired ambiance that just screams fun, Dr. Watson's is a must for those looking for something new in the pub world. While most pubs only carry the most basic of British beers, and very little other forms of alcohol, Watson's has a number of beers not just from Britain, but from all over the world. Hoegaarden, Strong Bow Cider and Stella Artois are available, as well as more unique picks like Magic Hat #9, Flying Fish and Yuengling, as many more are available by the bottle. They also have an extensive wine list, that changes almost weekly, so you have to stop by the pub for more info. You won't find just the usual fish and chips and bangers and mash at this pub. Instead, there's a wide variety of foods, from tuna steak, to veal, to crab cakes, and many other interesting flavors to choose from. They even have a huge selection of sandwich options to choose from, including Watson's specialties such as the South Philly Club, with roast pork, provolone, broccoli rabe and roasted peppers, the terragon chicken, with chicken breast, Swiss and bacon, and the Sherlock, with grilled corned beef on rye with coleslaw and Russian dressing, served with fries. From food, to drink, to everything in-between, this is one pub like nothing you've ever seen before.
