With the number of premiere colleges in the Phoenix area, Estrella Mountain Community College is an excellent option. This college, in a family of 10 community colleges serving the residents in the Maricopa county area since 1990. The college is a large public college that enrolls thousands of undergraduates annually. It is a 2 year college and awards certificates and associates degrees. It is not accredited to award Bacchlaureate degrees. Associates degrees and certificates that are offered at the university are: AAS in Administration of Justice, Culinary Studies certificate, Desktop publishing certificate, Network Administration certificate, Associates of Nursing degree, Organizational leadership certificate, and Pharmacy Technician certificate to name a few of the course offered. This is in addition to continuing adult education, university transfer courses, and night courses. This college has it together. If you want to attend EMCC, the same requirements apply that apply at all the Maricopa County Colleges. You must be a high school graduate or received a GED. You must also be able to prove that you are a US Citizen of at least 18 years of age. If you are an incoming freshmen with no college hours, then you must attend an orientation and meet with a college advisor before registering. You must submit all transcripts and ACT/SAT scores to the college and then you take a placement Math and English test. Once you do this, then you are free to register for classes. If you are an international student, there is a different registration process for you, and you must have a valid approved VISA and have taken the TOEFL or equivalent english competency exam. Although, EMCC has no residence halls, they do have an active campus life, with many groups and organizations. Fraternities, Sororities, Hispanic Clubs, Gay Lesbian awareness clubs, African American clubs and the list goes on and on...So if you are feeling lonely or out of the loop, the campus will have something for you. So, now you are sitting in your cool apartment, listening to the sounds of the Arizona evening...all of the information you have just learned about has made you think..maybe I can go back to school..just maybe...consider EMCC.
