Better that your Salt Lake City apartments are made of a more hearty material than crude adobe or logs at Pioneer Park as they were in the mid-1800's. Pioneer Park apartments now have air conditioning, modern appliances and sturdy walls and floors. Sometimes called the "Plymouth Rock of the West," Pioneer Park is known as the first permanent Anglo Saxon settlement in the west, with several other ethnic groups surrounding it, including Italian, Greek, Lebanese and Japanese. In the 10 acre park, the first school was set up, and over 1700 people came through from 1847 to 1849. The park itself was set up to honor those early residents of the city and the state. Today, residents of Pioneer Park apartments can wander through the square during lunch or after work, and sit on benches and picnic tables. Large lawns and big trees provide a great place for a picnic, and the playground areas provide a super place for younger Salt Lake City apartment residents to play and enjoy themselves. An occasional weekend market occurs at Pioneer Park, and is a great place to pick up gifts and items for your Pioneer Park apartment. Afterward, you can view a film on the outdoor theater. Future plans for the park include a dog park, bocce courts and a running track. It's great to get outside your Salt Lake City apartment.
