Beer is freely pouring from quite a few places around San Antonio, but apartment-ites should know that if they want a real taste of San Antonio beer, they'll have to search a little harder. No place gets it quite as right as Blue Star Brewing Company, one bar cooking up its beer right in house. It's not just one or two flavors, either, there are a great number of different beers to choose from, and other specialties popping up throughout the seasons. If you're feeling hungry after trying out all their beers, they have a full, delicious menu with tons of tasty options. Blue Star Brewery is full of many different varietals of beers to try out, and the toughest choice will be which to choose first. Their Smoke Dark Ale is based upon the flavors of dark ales from Northern England and Lowland Scotland, a fine mix of dark malts and Engilsh hops; their Wheatbread White is a traditional Belgian white made with coriander and orange peel; their Pale Ale has that familiar taste of American ales; their Golden Lager hearkens to the beer houses of Germany; their Stout is creamy, with just a hint of chocolate, full of flavor; and their King William Ale MMVVIII is more of a traditional barleywine style beer, and contains more hops, malts and alcoholic than any other beer on their menu. They also have cask-conditioned brews for your imbibing, just make sure to ask the server what's available. Want to take their delicious beer to go? Well, there are quite a few options for your needs. If you just need a few glasses to share, you can take home the ½ gallon growler, or, if you want to have a few glasses for a while, try their party pig, a 2.25 gallon package which holds enough for 18 pints. If you need some Blue Star beer for your next big party, you can also purchase the beer in 124 pint kegs. If you're feeling hungry, feel free to order something from their extensive menu. To start the meal, you can try their friend calamari, quesadillas, fried mushrooms, buffalo wings or Nachos Barrachos. For entrees, your options are pretty much endless. You can try their 10-ounce rib-eye, pork loin, fish and chips, chicken fried steak or chicken, or their German Plate, with Weinerschnitzel and Bratwurst served with Sauerkraut and German potato salad. You can also try one of their delicious burgers, their chicken fried chicken sandwich (in regular or buffalo), veggie burger, or fish burger. They also a number of other sandwich, soup and salad options, and delicious lunch combo combining all three. Make sure to wash it all down with one of their cold beers, or handcrafted sodas, which you can get individually or part of a soda sampler. San Antonio apartment-ites owe themselves a trip to this Texas brewery, one of the only places in town to taste real beers just like San Antonians love it, as well as enjoying a good meal, and even some live music.
