So now you live on the west coast, near the ocean, in an apartment in the beautiful city of San Diego. Of course, that means that friends and family will be flocking to visit you, and you're going to have to learn to navigate your way around the San Diego International Airport. The beauty of the situation, however, is that the airport is very easy to get around, and has a few features to make it even easier. Arriving and leaving San Diego is typically a wondrous sight. You, or your visitors, will fly over the desert, then the mountains and hills just to the east, and then it appears to be very close to the downtown skyscrapers. I've never heard of an accident, but wow, do they seem as if the plane wing is about to touch them. When you leave San Diego, the flight path takes you right out over the water as a sea gull, as the airport is situated on the coastline. It's easy to get to the airport from any San Diego apartment location. It's located near the I-5, with connections to 163, I-8 and I-15. There are three terminals at the airport, the first being the Commuter Terminal which deals with smaller planes typically to other California locations. Terminal One houses Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, United Airlines and Southwest Airlines. At Terminal Two you'll find AeroMexico, AirTran Airways, Allegiant Air, American Airlines, Continental Airlines, Delta, Frontier and Hawaiian Airlines, JetBlue and US Airways, Northwest and Sun Country Airlines, US Airways and Virgin America. Some of the features of the airport include a cell phone parking lot where you can wait in your car for the phone call of the arriving passenger so you don't have to circle the parking lot 15 times, parking lot shuttle buses, and a huge array of food and libations in the terminals themselves. As with much of San Diego, the outdoor lifestyle is premier, and the terminal itself is a beauty, with lovely rockwork appearing as almost outdoor sculpture. Inside is soothing, with beautiful artwork and a life-sized replica of Charles Lindbergh's "Spirit of St. Louis" airplane. Here's hoping you'll have a great experience at the San Diego International Airport.
