What is the history of Temple?

Temple City - named after Bernard Moore Temple - was founded in 1881 as a railroad town. It was founded by the Gulf, Colorado, and Santa Fe Railroad. Temple was locally nicknamed Tanglefoot owing to the liquor and muddy streets that made it difficult to walk through. It has developed over the years starting the establishment of two private schools to the commercial and residential city it is today.

How is the weather in Temple?

Temple is generally cold from the month of November through to January. Temperatures pick up from February and peak in August before they start declining. Precipitation varies with light rains in November-January and thunderstorms in the other months. Precipitation is, however, least likely in October and highly probable in mid-April.

How do I get around town?

A good road network that connects Temple City. The E Adams Ave, W Adams Ave, S 3rd St and N 3rd St intersect in the middle of the city. The Central Ave, Adams Ave, and 3rd St all connect to the main highway I-35. Other feeder roads and avenues connect the various neighborhoods, amenities and working areas in Temple City.

What is the Temple commute like?

There are a number of commuter options available in Texas. Having a car is beneficial since most Temple apartments are far from commercial centers. One can, however, walk to various destinations. Greyhound Lines is one of the major bus stations and Temple station in the main train station. There is no commercial airline in the city.

There are a number of media outlets based in Temple to help keep you informed. Some of the television stations include KCEN, KWTX, KWKT Fox 44 and KPLE TV. They include Belton Lake from where one can go fishing, boating, or camping, The Temple Railroad and Heritage Museum, Live Oak Ridge Park, Ferguson Park, Silverstone Park among other landmarks that clearly depicts the beauty and Heritage of Temple City.

Temple hosts an array of activities that creates great experiences. You can visit the historical sites and learn about the history of the railroad system and Czech immigrants. There is always an event going down in Temple. You can catch the Temple College Jazz Festival that takes place in March, or wait for May to attend the Central Texas Airshow, the Bloomin’ Temple Festival or the Battle of Temple Junction. Other annual events in Temple include the July 4th Family Fun Rest and the Texas Early Day Tractor and Engine Association in October.

Where are the nearby vacation spots?

Ring Lake Ranch is one of the vacation destinations near Temple City. The place is good for hiking, horseback riding, swimming, and fishing, offering a perfect destination to relax and have a good time with friends and family. Belton Lake is, also, a great destination. The Hilton Garden Inn Temple and Stratford House Inn and Suites are, also, great locations for vacations.

Where is the best place to move in Temple?

" FM 3117 / BLUE GILL LN is one of the highly priced neighborhoods. It is, however, a great place with close proximity to working areas and other amenities. The ethnicity of the residents is diverse and the main language spoken is English. The neighborhood has some of the best Temple apartments. State Loop / Zenith Ave is an affordable place to look for apartments in Temple. This suburban neighborhood comprises of medium sized apartments. The population is, also, quite diverse speaking English. Residents get to enjoy close proximity to work and other amenities."
