Nashua Overview

"Apartments in Nashua provide an ideal lifestyle for people wanting to live in this vibrant city! Nashua is a medium-sized town with 89,246 residents. It's the second-largest city in the state of New Hampshire, making it a great place to live! This charming city has been named ""The Best Place to Live in America"" two times by Money magazine. For many people, a Nashua apartment is the perfect alternative to living in Boston. Nashua is included in the southern New Hampshire area that has become a sort of annex to the Boston area, with many people living in Nashua and working in the greater Boston area. One of the most charming assets that the city enjoys is the Nashua Riverwalk which is a highlight of the downtown commercial district. "

What is the history of Nashua?

Founded in the 1600s as a fur trading post, Nashua was originally called Dunstable. Its location at the confluence of the Merrimack and Nashua Rivers made it an easily accessible trading town. During the 1800s it was less of a trading town, as it evolved into a center for commerce. Like many other cities in New England, Nashua was once a thriving center of textile manufacturing. During the Industrial Revolution, its name changed, and it became home to a number of cotton mills. The energy harnessed from the river gave Nashua the power it needed to become a well-established part of the country's industrial output. Unfortunately, as the textile trade tapered off in the Northeast, Nashua entered into a downswing. In recent decades it has once again become a thriving river town, home to many professionals.

How is the weather in Nashua?

Similar to New Hampshire and the entire New England region, Nashua enjoys a year filled with four distinct seasons. The winters can be filled with a lot of snow, while the city experiences summers that are both hot and humid. Spring and fall are favorite seasons, with many people throughout the United States visiting the region to see the beautiful autumn leaves. The average annual high temperature for Nashua is just under 60 degrees, and the average low is around 36 degrees. Nashua residents can expect an average of 55 inches of snow each year and 48 inches of rain.

How do I get around town?

Living in Nashua is perfect for residents who want to have a more leisurely pace of life. The core of the city is very pedestrian-friendly, with a lot of restaurants, nightlife options, and shopping all located in the downtown area. Nearby Boston, MA and Manchester, NH provide even more travel options through their airports, train stations, and bus depots. You can get by very well living in the heart of Nashua without a car, but one is necessary if you wish to venture further afield.

What is the Nashua commute like?

Many people residing in Nashua apartments work in the Boston Metro area. Commuting is possible via car, the Concord Trailways bus line, and ride-sharing. There are a number of different park and rides along I-95 and I-93 which are the major routes into Boston.

What are the local media outlets?

The Nashua Telegraph is the main paper for the town. It is also served by radio stations WEVS, WGHM, and WSMN along with the major stations out of Boston and Manchester. The major networks also have affiliates in the area, including CBS4, WCVB, 7NBC, and WMUR.

Why live in Nashua, NH?

With the Riverwalk and the vibrant downtown core, there is plenty for residents of all ages to enjoy! What Nashua landmarks should I see?
