The city of La Puente was first began being seeing European settlers in 1841, when they arrived by wagon train coming from New Mexico. Rancho La Puente was a 48,000 acre area of land which settlers got the title for. This became an area where walnut groves and fruit trees were vibrant, and in the 1930s was home to the largest walnut packing plant in the world. There are no longer large farms in the area, and most of the land is used as residential space for homeowners and apartments in La Puente.

There are taxi companies throughout the city for further transportation needs.

La Puente is only 20 miles east of Los Angeles, and many residents commute to the city for work. You can access La Puente from the 60 Freeway and 10 Interstate. While it is a short commute to Los Angeles, traffic can get substantial during the popular morning and afternoon commute times. In La Puente, traffic doesn't get bad as the area is mainly residential.

You can find a wide range of media outlets that serve La Puente and the surrounding area. Some of the more popular radio stations include KCBS, 93.1 FM, out of Los Angeles playing adult hits, KLOS, 95.5 FM, playing classic rock, KXOL, 96.3 FM, playing Spanish hits, and KGGI, 99.1 FM, which features Top-40 music. As a city close to the Pacific Ocean, it's easy to find nearby vacation opportunities in La Puente. You can travel south to San Diego, stay near the beach and spend a day at the San Diego Zoo. If you want shows and excitement, a trip to Las Vegas, Nevada is a great vacation destination. When you prefer a long, scenic drive, you can always head over to Los Angeles and then drive up scenic route 1 in California. From spending time in the city of Los Angeles, or driving up to San Francisco, there are plenty of ways to take a vacation when you live in an apartment in La Puente.
