With a history dating all the way back to 1934, you've been hearing tall tales about Swenson's Drive-in and their legendary hamburgers since well before you moved into your new Akron-area apartment. As an appreciator of the science of burgerdom, you are always on the hunt for a new take on this old favorite, and Swenson's, hype or not, definitely delivers the goods. With a variety of destinations located across the Akron area, Swenson's practically guarantees you can find one of their long-running establishments within a short drive from just about any apartment complex. A mouth-watering time machine to the charming year's gone past, customers are immediately greeted at their car windows by Swenson's youthful and friendly wait staff, as 1950's doo-wop tunes create the perfect soundtrack for a bygone age. Crafted out of a closely guarded secret recipe by Wesley 'Pop' Swenson himself, the Swenson burger has a high reputation among beef aficionados for good reason. Served on a buttery baked bun and irresistibly cheap (under $3!), a Swenson's burger is a meal like no other. And while most newcomers are practically obligated to try the Galley Boy (a pair of juicy burger patties covered with a hearty dollop of secret sauces), other selections such as fried bologna, sloppy joe's and crispy fried fish sandwiches can all be yours for the asking. Just be sure to leave some room for one of their trademark ice cream floats, or you'll return to your apartment feeling like you've just left a job half finished. And that, fine sir, is a burger crime against humanity.
