Terrible Place apartment!

You sign a year long lease without seeing the apartment because they don't show an apartment that is occupied. The leasing agent informed me that this was a nice and quiet apartment.
When I entered the apartment for the first time after signing the lease and paying the deposit and the first month's rent, I saw holes in bedroom and bathroom doors that were poorly patched. Torn closet floor. Carpet with paint and black marks at different places. The carpet smelled like sewage.

and in need of major repairs, it seems. If occupants in apartment above don't walk gently but rather stomp then it becomes a nightmare when you are trying to get some sleep. Unfortunately, that appears to be the case for me. The leasing agent told me that previous tenants didn't complain about the noise and I need to deal with this situation on my own and call the police.
My advice if you must rent here get all your concerns and questions answered in writing.
I am specifically writing this review about my apartment and other apartments may be in better condition. Nevertheless, get all your questions and concerns answered in writing.
