When you and your friends are looking for a weekend diversion from your Minneapolis apartments, try Loring Park. This site has so many amenities that you can almost spend an entire day here. A walking path (and a bike path) goes around and through the park. You can bring the kids to enjoy the playground and wading pool, and feel free to bring a picnic from your Minneapolis apartment. As a part of the Grand Rounds national byway, it's a superb stopping point for travelers, or a starting point for the byway. Located on Loring Park grounds is the Community Arts Center that serves as a rental facility for events. The Spanish mission style architecture makes it a perfect spot for a reception or party with friends from your Loring Park apartments. Another entertainment venue on the park grounds includes a band stand for performances. It's available for rental, and just check your local paper for artists that may be presenting here. Adjacent to Loring Park is the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, the largest urban sculpture garden in the city and well worth a visit. You just walk over the Whitney Bridge to get to this 11 acre modern monument destination. One new feature of the park that your dog will love is a new off-leash dog area where Fido can roam free from his Loring Park apartment without the resistance of a leash. Its a quarter acre area in the north corner of the park, and you must have a permit to use it. One further note about Loring Park is that it was voted the Best Park by the 2009 Reader's Choice awards, so visit soon.
