The landlord doesn't like to spend a lot of money but I get the feeling that she is going to start rehabbing more of the building as she has started charging $2200 for 1 bedrooms with some new vacancies in the 1st floor in addition to raising our rent the maximum allowed of 3% every year per rent control laws. Our rent started at $1725 2 years ago. The building is honestly a dump and not worth the any where close to $2200 when there are several nearby similarly priced units in the neighborhood that offer much more amenities and aren't filled with silverfish and spiders. There is a laundry room with a coin op washer and dryer ($1.75 a wash!!, $1.25 dry!!!) the room is dusty and rarely cleaned. Each unit gets a car garage spot. The garage spots on the east side of the building have room for two cars. Our neighbor on on our right moved out last month and told us that the landlord took $120 out of the security deposit to paint and clean the carpet (Which is illegal) but he didn't want to take her to court over such a small amount. It's a family owned building that could use a complete make over. The building is close enough to several nice restaurants in Brentwood and West LA and the neighborhood is very quiet.
