  • Falling apart

    Paper thin walls. I can hear my upstairs neighbor while in my bedroom doing their business in their bathroom. Things constantly braking and having to call multiple times to get it fixed. If you love noise and having to do repairs this is the place for you

  • So Many Roaches!

    I liked this place when we first moved in, spacious apartments, trees all around, a small playground for my daughter, and plenty of pet waste stations for my doggy. On the down side we're close to the Naval Air Base so there are jets almost daily and they have a very strict towing policy, often without warning. We didn't know VA required any kind of car inspection and our car was towed while we were in MI visiting my Dad in the hospital after he had a massive stroke and nearly died from ...
    complications. A large towing bill is just what I wanted to come home to, August came, and so did the roaches. It's Mid December now and it looks like maybe they're finally gone, but this had been an incredibly frustrating and disgusting ordeal. I have been asking to speak to a manager for 6 weeks now but still nothing. I had a huge roach crawl up my back while watching a horror show, and that freaked me out. Getting ready for bed one night I look over and see one walking across the wall right above my bed. When we turned on the lights in the kitchen at night there were at least 20 roaches that scattered. Just a few days ago my husband found a dead roach that had somehow gotten into what we thought was a sealed bag of snack mix. He found the roach when he started chewing. The week before that I found one floating in the boiling water in my electric tea kettle. We have been living with roaches in our dishwasher, in our dryer, in every room of our house except thankfully, my daughter's bedroom. She now thinks squish the cockroach is a great new game. Through all of this my family and I have tried to be patient and understanding, every two weeks we have contacted the office and asked for the exterminator. We put all food into plastic totes, deep cleaned, had the leaky water heater replaced. I think the only reason we're finally not seeing them everywhere is simply because it's colder out and we don't turn the heat way up. Once we hit two months of dealing with the infestation we wanted to talk to a manager for some type of compensation for dealing with this disgusting problem. It's really hard to get to sleep when you just saw a roach right above your pillow. The office has told me they know our apartment is not the problem, someone near us is, but we certainly get to deal with all the incredibly disgusting parts of having a roach infestation and management clearly doesn't care about how it affects your life and family.

  • Sorry we moved in

    I can't stand being here walls are paper-thin you can hear the conversations that are being had on either side of you people below you if they have kids feels like there on your head. Forget taking a shower by yourself if your neighbors taking a shower at the same time you might as well be taken one together. Daryl talked up there Park so well but all it is is a rust bucket that they recently painted over so hopefully your child has a tetanus shot. Most of the staff is very friendly

    The two star is only because the staff here is great and I don't want them to suffer from this review much. They were extremely helpful in every step of the way. Since moving here, the car spot we pay for (extra charge for second car) has people randomly parking in it. We called the Tow Company and they are the worst to deal with. I felt so bad for the dumb car parked in my parking space I wrote them a note instead. I have no idea why the apartment does business with such a poor rated ...
    company. Second, noisy. Jet noises and loud car. I have never lived anywhere that was built so bad that when a jet flies over, it feels like someone just bombed the house. The noise is super loud, they need to invest in double windows or noise reduction systems because its terrible. Jets flies day and night, you have no control because you signed a waiver. Loud car lives around the corner and whenever it comes into the parking area, it wakes everyone up. Nothing we could do. Get earplugs if you move here. Third, they charge for everything. They have an automatic payment system that is setup for convenience but charges you 1% fee. Most places give you a discount this place charges for everything! Water, sewer, trash and your electric bill and renters insurance (asks you to cover the building also, which most apartments don't require that since the owners have their insurance for the that). If I could move the people here to a better location, it'd be a great place. However, I would not reccomend it and not renew my lease with them.

    Literally one of the worst apartment complexes I have ever lived in. The walls are THIN! You hear EVERYTHING!! There is a mold problem here and there is also a "water bug" (roaches) problem. They are everywhere no matter how clean you are. then when you move in they say it's brand new carpet that's a lie it's cleaned and they expect you to pay to have it cleaned as well as pay for whatever other problems they see fit. I literally hated every second I was this place just because of how bad it is. ...
    I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

  • Renter Beware!

    With every apartment property, they are some pluses and minuses to living there. For Chapel Lake, the plus is the convenience of the property and cost. During my contract there, the neighbors were loud, the walls are thin, we had problems with the appliances that were reported and some where fixed. The dryer in the apartment never dried the clothes and we had to dry our clothes two and three times, for an hour each time. After a while, we just gave up. The last straw for us was that at our move ...
    out, we had a final walk through and the representative never acknowledged any problem with our apartment. We were given a final AUM Utility Billing Move Out Invoice which stated "Final Billing" for Sewer, Trash, Water, and an Admin Charge. We moved after the walk through, paid the bill, and then received another bill in the mail stating that we still had more utilities to pay and they charged us for "carpet stains and bleach stains" after we steamed vacuumed the carpets before we left. My advice to all those preparing to move from this property is to do your walk through, be present when the walk through is conducted, and take pictures of everything. The carpet company comes after you leave and can say that you have done anything to the carpet and you get charged for it. Cover your bases and be prepared to have all of your evidence available if they charge you with something that should not be charged to your account after you leave.

    I moved in to the apartments in 6 months ago.....Upon moving in I received a package with my rental agreement and other various items. One of those items was a voucher that waved the late fee if ever you found a need to pay your rent late, it stated on the voucher that you have up to 10 days to pay in needed. Now, I've never paid my rent late but in January (this month) I realized that my paycheck wasn't arriving until January 6th so on December 28th I took that voucher to the office and asked ...
    if I could use it. They confirmed I could and I told them I would be in before the 10th to pay my rent. On January 3 I received a notice on my door stating my rent was late and I would have to pay an additional $100.00. I called the office and explained the situation and they stated not to worry the late fee would be waved, then on January 6th I received another noticed on red paper, this time it stated that I owed additional late fees and I would also be responsible for additional court costs etc.... Now I know this is standard practice but after following the proper steps to notify the complex as I did, I do not get that feeling that I'm at home as a resident here. I will be moving out at the end of my lease to a place that respects their residents and truly does care.

  • Military stay away!!!

    MILITARY DO NOT USE!!!!! They brought my husband to court for money he did not owe. Never informed him. Never used his permanent address only his old command. A judgment was done in their favor and took money out of our accounts without us knowing. He was deployed. It was a year after he moved out. They only want military so the can take your money.... Please please please do not rent here. I do not want my fellow military being taken advantage of.

    We love the location of Chapel Lakes Apartments they are convenient to shopping and the Ocean. The apartments are zoned for a good schools in the VA beach area. They are spacious, newly renovated, and affordable. Only downside for us is they have assigned parking spots. Not a fan of that but overall enjoy living here.
