      • Beware!!! AWFUL! Save yourself!

        BEWARE!! Worst place to ever live. Management....ha that is funny. People in the office are only there Monday through Friday. Nobody answers returns calls on the weekend phone line. Rude and unprofessional. Don't bother trying to deal with them or request anything be fixed because they retaliate with threats of fines and outrageous fees. Trash all over the grounds. The owning company Iron Door Management has no way to be reached and when you ask for contact information to corporate you get the ...
        run around. You won't be able to leave the grounds in winter because they do not have anyone maintain the grounds for snow removal or treatment. The local police department knows the address by heart because of the constant issues. Don't let the cheaply done decor fool you. Don't make the same mistake you will regret it and be stuck if you do. Care about your sanity and safety and stay far away from renting here.

        this complex is for people who have average stations in life. They are the on the cheaper side of independence, so walking around at night might not be the smartest of things. but they are friendly, affordable, and allow one children to go to a great school. if needed I'd move back in a heartbeat.

        First of all when I called about an apartment the lady told me that she would require copies of my social security card and drivers license to prove that I was who I said I was. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever that anyone would need a copy of my social security card. I continued to ask why they would need a copy and she said because corporate required it. That is not a reason but rather a round about excuse. Secondly when investigating around the area to see what it was like I was told ...
        that I would want to stay away due to all the drug activity around that area. That came directly from an officers standpoint. Finally she told me that because I had not the greatest credit that I would be obligated to give them an $800 deposit. I do not care how terrible my credit is there is never any reason to charge such a ridiculous rate.

      • Literally the cheapest place I could find - but it feels like it's only the 2nd or 3rd cheapest

        This apartment complex is a bargain if you like sleeping indoors! Other than that, you get what you pay for. Cost: Their promotional rent was great! I got two months of rent half-off and they were very lenient about the move in dates. There is a pet fee, but no pet rent. One issue: when I dropped off my first rent check, they told me to put it in what ended up being their outgoing mail. My own rent check was mailed to me and it was possibly the most confused I've ever been about a piece of mail. ...
        Location: It's a mediocre location - it is right in between my job in KC and my job in Independence, right in between my friends in North KC and east Kansas City, KS - it's at least ten or fifteen minutes to get anywhere. The walk score is very low because there is nowhere to go within a reasonable walking distance and even if there was, there would be a graveyard, two adult DVD stores, and an unfortunate lack of sidewalks getting your way. Interior: There is a minor roach tendency and I recently got mice (but that might be blamed on me) - they have monthly or quarterly pest maintenance, during which time everything must be removed from your cabinets and underneath your sink. I still don't understand where I'm supposed to put my food at these times, but... I have a studio apartment where I want for nothing except for a single inch of counter space and possibly an occasional bath. To clarify - no tub, no counters or built in drawers. In the end, I have no complaints, but this is not the home I dreamed of and despite the low cost, I will be moving out at the end of my lease term in Septemeber.
