Jackson area face, which is a serious lack of quality. The kitchen appliances were old. The "granite" countertops that I was told it would have were actually that awful laminate contractor-grade garbage. The cabinets are cheap, they almost look and feel like unpainted plywood. The "hardwood" floors I was promised were some new age fake hardwood that feels - and acts - like paper. I got it wet in one of the corners when I was installing my washing machine and it just peeled right up off the floor. In the bathroom, they didn't even attempt to install that stuff, and instead left the old soggy laminate, which was stained with an extremely permanent blue paint in several places. I told them about the stains the day I moved in and they did nothing about it. Just bought a couple of rugs to cover it. Now despite all this, I have managed to make it look somewhat nice. I am a girl, so naturally I decorate a lot. I also painted the walls and did a nice kitchen backsplash. I took down those awful vertical blinds and put up nice curtains. I will also say that the residents here seem very respectable and upstanding. Lots of young professionals and retirees. In the end, you have to realize that the rental market in Jackson is terrible, and just make the most of what you can find. There are very few places here I would consider "nice" (i.e., with standard updates like granite, hardwood, stainless steel, etc). I think the best thing you can do is find a place within your price range and in a good neighborhood, and do your best to fix it up to your liking.

our laundry room, termites, and a couple of other minor issues. One of the last problems was a leak in our ceiling that they never did fix completely before we left. I have to say they usually had the guys come fix things the next day. We also had an issue with one of the office ladies, but after talking to the right person she was always very pleasant. It is a very safe place to live.
