Disappointing
August 12, 20221.Before moving in I read reviews and decided to risk it anyway, big mistake. Just as previous reviews mentioned, the only garbage on S Amsterdam is a disaster area and this is with the new and improved compactor that was installed over a year ago. There’s always garbage piled higher than the door and flowing out onto the street in view of all of the apartments facing. Not what you want to see when u open your window or front door. Then there’s the dumpster across from the compactor that is ...completely open and accessible to all. There’s garbage, broken furniture, boxes, water tank, u name it, it sits in and around the dumpster all weekend and overnight until the 1 porter cleans it up. Btw no matter where u live in this community of 400 plus units, u have to walk your garbage to this one location or do like several people do and drive it to the area on the hood of their vehicle.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Do not rent!!!
November 26, 2020Maple Bay Townhomes are very unprofessional. We set up a day to view the townhome and showed up and they had no available townhomes for us to view. We took off work for no reason. We paid $300 to secure the townhome and they gave the townhome to other candidates. Margaret the leasing manager refunded our deposit back, however sent it to the wrong address due to the lack of attention to details sent in her email. We still haven't received our money back. The check was supposed to be sent overnight ...and we still haven't received it. The Vice President Andy was very unprofessional with the situation. I would not recommend these townhomes. I'm actually thankful we didn't move in. We have been waiting since October for our deposit back. If there was an option for no stars that's what I would have suggested because one star isn't even worth it. This place is a cheap dump.
August 2, 2020Trash all over the place. Hopefully, you do not live across from the dumpster where it smells daily. The apartments are made with low-quality materials and the appliances are cheap. The air vents are placed over the door with gaps /windows so the apartment does not cool off just wasted money out the literal door. When reviewing what is included they don't list that you have to pay for parking in front of your apartment. I hate that I moved into this place.Review from Apartments.com
New Management
January 6, 2020Maple Bay Townhomes is currently under new management, so it is a good idea to disregard the past comments that had to do with management and move out discrepancies. They are currently replacing the carpet with a wooden vinyl material that looks a lot nicer, as well as easier to clean upon moveout. They have replaced all the lights with LEDs to lower energy costs, freshly re-stained the back fences and repainted the front doors and guard rails in order to give the apartments a nice fresh look. ...The greatest thing about this place is the fact that everything is within 5-10 minutes, you can walk to target, Kelly’s (bar) and plenty of other places. Renter beware
February 5, 2018I would give this place a zero if I could. The leasing staff is rude, the maintenance manager is terrible and does not know the difference between vinyl and laminate. I have been with out properly working heat since October- someone finally came out- 2.5 hours late- yesterday in February. Prices are through the roof for what you get. My smoke detectors haven't worked for nearly a week and no one has come out to fix them.Property Manager Responded

Good Apartments
October 9, 2015These are good townhomes. Besides being old which has some flaws everything else is pretty good. Office Staff are all very friendly and helpful. Any time we go into the office they are always very kind. maintanence are fairly quick and are also very respectful when entering home. One of the biggest issues I have is with rent. Rent must be paid on the first, rent must be paid through a online portal, you can send a check in but it would need to be sent in before the first of the month. If rent is ...not paid by the first they will charge you $75 per day for being late, and you can't pay online after the first. Only way to pay after the first is over the phme which is another $34 fee. most apartments offer a grace period these do not. My other big complaint would be they nickel and dime you. You have to pay $50 for access to the gym and pool. You have to pay $10 for each car you have but you only get 1 marked spot. Then the garbage piled up from neighbors not wanting to enter the code into the compactor, they are working to fix that but people still tend to do it, I think it is like this with many apartment complexes. HUGE RIP OFF
August 17, 2015BEWARE!! DO NOT BE FOOLED!! They offer no support and they make you pay for everything! I am highly unsatisfied with my stay at Maple Bay Townhomes in Virginia Beach, VA. It looks beautiful on the outside and the model they allow you to view is immaculate! However, upon moving in, the truth is revealed. They have tape in the closets that have been painted over to hide things. Cracks in the foundation of the complex and even inside. There were cracks so bad, my husband and I were afraid of falling ...from our room upstairs into the living room. The plumbing was terrible as well causing us to deal with not having a toilet for days while waiting on the maintenance team to fix it. The place is infested with ants partially due to the plumbing. Ants are attracted to wet soil and the very foundation of that place is corroding due to the moisture. Beyond the complex, they charge you for EVERYTHING! Parking, gym/pool key, an account to pay your bill online, trash, heck I was surprised they didn't count the amount of breaths we took while living there and make us pay fifty cents a breath! We were paying monthly for our parking spaces and one weekend, my husband bought a new truck after office hours. We are both in the military so we got home the next day and the office was closed again. We woke up the next morning and his truck had been towed. We paid $150 to get the truck back then spoke with the office, After confronting the leasing office, we were told we had to pay $20 for another parking decal and that he couldn't park his truck on their property so my husband had to park on the street the remaining two weeks we had left before moving out and we couldn't wait to do so. Rewinding back time to June, we were scheduled to have a pre-move out inspection at 4pm. We got a call around 10am from our alarm company saying there was some moving around in our living room and the alarm had been triggered. We got off work and went home to wait for the move out inspection to take place, it never happened. Well, come to find out, it took place, without us being there. Today I spoke with Jennifer at the leasing office about how they never showed for any of our appointments and she responded that they took place we just weren't there because the inspection is for office and vendor purposes so there is no reason we have to be there.
