Warning to anyone considering renting

I lived on the third floor of this building for a year. From the moment I contacted Freedom Property Management in regards to the apartment there were nothing but issues. Being a college student coming back from summer break I was eager to secure a place for the upcoming year. Due to time constraints I was forced to rent it site unseen. I was baited and switched. Everything I was told was false upon arrival.
*Tenants regularly get locked out on their balconies.
*Laundry machines on site do ...
not work.
****Freedom Property does not handle inquiries regarding property condition and are HIGHLY UPROFESSIONAL.
-They will come into your apartment unannounced to do things like air conditioning maintenance. When contacted on the matter they admitted to doing so but were unapologetic.
-They have a clause in the lease allowing them to show the property whenever is convenient for them. THIS INCLUDES FINALS. They refuse to reschedule regardless, after calling about the matter they said it was not their issue and Jesse (shows the units),literally HUNG UP on me.
-DO NOT expect to get much if ANY, OF YOUR DEPOSIT BACK. They will charge you ~$200 just to start for "rekeying and carpet cleaning"(even after all keys are surrendered).
-They have a clause in their leases stating that tenants are not allowed to be at the property during walkthroughs / expect to be dinged for everything include preexisting paint flaws.
Other issues with the property itself include:
*roaches all around the property but this is mainly on ground level and the first floor (I did not have issues but they were all over the parameter of the building).
*Spiders are a big issue. I have never had problems with this but on the third floor they became an issue when it got cold.
*Homeless people sleeping in the abandoned dog / Dumped trash in the same area (left for a month!)
*The grounds are not kept up with (groomed maybe once a year)
***If you are considering this property I would look elsewhere. I have lived in several rental homes in The Grand Valley under multiple property management companies like Bray, Platinum and private managers. That being said, I have never had such an unbearable experience. Between the property itself and management company it is not worth the time or money. I would go as far to say they if you have already put a deposit down I would seriously reconsider before you sign a lease!***
