  • Great all year, then fees fees fees

    I lived at Sunset Trails apartments for 1 year and never had any issues whilst living there. We moved out, cleaned up, finishing nail marks in the wall here and there from where we hung stuff, but that was it. Our move in sheet we had written down that there were issues upon moving in with carpet being not great, marks, holes, dirty counter tops and such. Then now we move out and find out we're being charged over $800. There's a $545 painting fee when we didn't leave any marks and there were ...
    holes in the walls upon our arrival anyway yet they claimed every room was dirty and needed repainting. They charged us $200 for a cleaning fee that didn't even have our apartment number on the invoice it was a different apartment, then $100 for a carpet clean when at the bottom of the sheet it says that they didn't have it professionally cleaned. Take all the photos and videos in the world when you move in or brace yourself for another month's rend you weren't planning on paying if you live here. STay away from these scumbags.

  • cat declawing

    I almost rented an apartment here until I discovered that they require cats to be declawed. Since that rule is both cruel (banned in many countries, like amputating your fingers at the first knuckle, and can lead to chronic pain) and illogical (you already pay a deposit and pet rent that should cover any damage to the apartment somehow caused by a cat and also declawing can actually lead to more behavioral problems such as going to the bathroom outside the litter box), I'm not sure why they say ...
    "pet friendly" on their website. One other thing--despite having this bizarre attitude toward cats, they do allow dogs who could cause much more damage and hypothetically attack and/or frighten children. All in all, even if I didn't have a cat, I wouldn't rent here because of their poorly thought out pet policy.

  • My Peaceful Healing Retreat

    I absolutely love my two bedroom apartment at Sunset Trail in Rochester, Minnesota. I moved here a year ago from New York where I was having trouble making ends meet due to high rents. Right away I fell in love with my view from every window -and from my balcony, of a beautiful green tall grassy field. I wake up in the morning to the sound of birds chirping, and I am lulled to sleep at night by the sounds of crickets. Adjacent to the apartment complex, there is a beautiful shaded walking ...
    trail. It's a great place to walk and unwind in the spring, summer and autumn days. In the wintertime, the weather is often bitter cold and there is an abundance of snow on the ground. I love this!! Being that I am from New York, I feel right at home. I enjoy the fact that I have neighbors from all over the world. Many are my friends. Rochester attracts people from all around the country and from different parts of the world because of the world-famous Mayo Clinic. I have various health needs and appreciate having the Mayo Clinic at my doorstep, as well as the neighboring Olmsted Medical Center and various excellent private clinics that Rochester has to offer. There is also a beautiful state-of-the-art athletic club that I belong to. I swim in their salt water pool regularly and enjoy meeting people there. I also enjoy the downtown public library very much. All in all, Rochester is a great place for me. I have experienced much healing and relaxation here. As I mentioned, what I love most about my apartment are the views and the peaceful setting. Added to this, I love the space I have. The rooms are large and pretty. I made the second bedroom into a study where I work on my computer and dabble in writing. I love having a separate bedroom to go to to rest, relax and sleep. And I enjoy my living room, a welcoming place for guests and yet another place to enjoy and relax. I have two beautiful bathrooms - one with a bathtub. The bathtub was a must for me. I feel so lucky to have one! My kitchen is quite nice and open to the living room with an island, lots of cabinet space, and nice appliances. I have two walk-in closets, a room with my own washer and dryer, and a front coat closet. All of my furniture, except for a bed I bought on sale at a department store, comes from neighborhood thrift shops. I am on a budget and was able to find great deals. The management team is kind, considerate and always helpful. I love living here!!

    Sunset Trails Apartments is easily one of the best apartment facilities in Rochester. It's located in a nice area of the city, near shopping centers and the highway.
