Apartment life in Detroit can be a lot of fun, as long as you remember to enjoy the good things in life. Sure, fast food and local diners make for good times most of the time, but sometimes you want to throw on a suit and have a night on the town. When it comes time to dine, why not keep the feeling going, and go somewhere that has class written all over it. The Whitney is one of Detroit's more heralded upscale dining spots, and for good reason. The ambrosial food, the stunning decor and the friendly wait staff all come together to make it an experience you won't soon forget. If you're stopping in for dinner, you should start your meal with one of the delicious appetizers. Choose from a warm vegetable Bonaparte, with roasted portobellos, yellow tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and a 25-year-old balsamic vinegar, Duck Confit French toast with strawberry rhubarb compote and a port wine reduction, tempura of beef short rib with water chestnuts, Hoisin and coriander sauce, or seared Nantucket Bay scallops with creamy Gouda grits, sauce Perigueux, and truffles.
