Increasing its population by a 100 times over in just a few short decades, Holyoke added a reliance on water-based power to help with its fast growth. One of the first cities in the state to begin an ongoing Farmer's Market, an embrace of evolving agriculture and technology have helped Holyoke thrive to its current state of general prosperity.
How is the weather in Holyoke?
Summers are hot, sunny and prone to humidity, while snow in the winter is common if rarely extreme. Falls are quite comfortable, with jacket weather the norm in the crisp evenings, and spring brings with it plenty of flowers and occasional rain storms.
How do I get around town?
Bus service around the city is operated by the Pioneer Valley Transit Authority, and commuter rail returned to the city in 2015 thanks to a new Amtrak stop. A number of interstates run in and around the city, including I-91 which heads north to Northampton and I-391 leading south to Springfield. Holyoke itself is generally an easy city to get around in, save the occasional fender bender and standard rush our delays.

Print news is covered by 'The Republican' primarily, and radio is largely based out of the nearby Springfield market.
