Fort Collins, CO is the fourth largest city in the state of Colorado. With a population of 161,000, it has a cozy feel while still having the nightlife and culture of a bigger city. It's also home to Colorado State University and is a great place for singles and families alike.

Fort Collins has an annual high average temperature of 63 degrees and an average low of 36 degrees, but summer months can get as high as the mid-eighties and the winter can see temperatures as low at the teens. In the downtown area, bicycling is a popular mode of transportation and the city is creating new bike paths around town. There is also the Fort Collins streetcar that goes from City Park to Old Town. If more modern transportation is needed, Fort Collins does have a bus system. The city also has a regional airport.

For a smaller city, Fort Collins does have its fair share of traffic. You can expect plenty of congestion and high volume during peak hours. The good news is that the city is working to make things better by adding more public transportation and upgrading traffic signals and roads.

There's plenty of music on the airways to keep you grooving throughout the day. These include KVXQ - alternative, KWOF - country, KQMT - classic rock, and KCFR - public radio. If you're looking to pick up a newspaper, some of the local editions include the Collegian, the Coloradoan, The North Forty News, and Scene Magazine.

Why live in Fort Collins, CO?

There's a lot to love about Fort Collins. From its microbreweries to the bike paths that lead you through some great scenery, there's no doubt that Fort Collins is a little slice of heaven on earth. There is also great hiking to be had and rock climbing. You can also enjoy wonderful restaurants and nightlife. The city also happens to be one of the healthiest in the country. It's also a very kid-friendly town, and it's Main Street was used as a model for Disneyland's Main Street, and it just doesn't get any better than that.

What Fort Collins landmarks should I see?

When it comes to landmarks, Fort Collins has some great ones. The Avery House is a nice place to visit as is the Veteran's Plaza of Northern Colorado. The Maxwell Natural Area takes you to the foothills of the mountains, and the Water Works is a great place to spend an afternoon.

What is there to do around Fort Collins?

There's plenty to do in Fort Collins. You might consider starting your day at the Cache La Poudre River for some hiking or water rafting. The Annual Flower Trial Garden provides a nice place for a walk before hitting the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery. Plan to end your day at one of the local microbreweries such as the New Belgium Brewing.

Any annual festivals or Fort Collins events to know?

There are several annual festivals in Fort Collins. These include the FORToberfest in September and the Bohemian Nights at NewWestFest in August. There is also the Taste of Fort Collins in June as well as the Colorado Brewer's Festival. September also brings with it the Tour de Fat.

Where are the nearby vacation spots?

When it's time to hit the road and get out of Fort Collins, there's plenty to do and see nearby. The Red Rocks Amphitheater has great music, but during the day you can also explore the rocks and trails. The Pawnee National Grasslands is another worthwhile destination as is the Rocky Mountain Arsenal Wildlife Refuge.

Where is the best place to move in Fort Collins?

When it's time to look for apartments in Fort Collins, be sure to check out the English Ranch area. It's centrally located and has great schools for the kids. If living in an area with lots of shopping is up your alley, you'll find that the College area is a good option. Of course, Fort Collins apartments can be found most anywhere in the city, but the Fossil Lake area is nice if you like a little peace and quiet when you come home.
