Prior to the arrival of European settlers, the area surrounding Framingham, Massachusetts was inhabited by Native Americans. The first European settlers arrived in the mid-1600s. After America won its independence, Framingham continued to grow. The region participated heavily in the American Civil War, followed by the Industrial Revolution. Traffic in Framingham can get busy. Given its proximity to Boston, the traffic patterns in Framingham mirror those of Boston. During the morning, traffic can be heavy moving from Framingham into Boston. During the evening, traffic can get heavy again moving from Boston back into Framingham. Even though traffic is not as heavy as it is in Boston, this is still something people need to consider if they are planning on driving in the local area. Finally, there is also a major airport nearby, as Boston Logan International Airport is not that far from Framingham.á

Because Framingham is so close to Boston, many of the media outlets in Framingham come directly from Boston.
