Located about 11 miles east of Los Angeles, Rosemead California has a population of 54,700 residents and a population of 10,559 people per square mile. With its proximity of local amenities such as restaurants, coffee shops, grocery stores, parks, libraries, and walking/running trails just about everything you need for apartment living is within walking distance or a short drive.

What is the history of Rosemead?

Rosemead has a long history of diversity from the Native American Kiz who were known as the people of the willow houses, to the Spanish Colonial era to American pioneers to Asian immigrants and from Mexico, Central America, and South America. Pioneers Frank Forst and Leonard John Rose settled in the area that is now about 20 miles from Los Angeles. Leonard Rose and his wife Amanda purchased 600 acres of land that is now between Walnut Grove Avenue and Rosemead Boulevard. The town’s name is a variation of the Rose’s horse ranch they named Rose’s Meadow.

How is the weather in Rosemead?

Rosemead has hot, short summers marked by clear air and long, wet, and cool winters. Temperatures range from 47°F to 89°F with lows rarely below 40°F and highs seldom above 97°F. If you want to invite friends or family to visit, the best times of year to visit Rosemead is from late May to mid-October.

There is an abundance or public transportation in the city and Greater Los Angeles is accessible by both bus and subway. Travel times vary so greatly in the Los Angeles area that it is difficult to say for certain what a commute will be for you. From places like Universal Studios to the northwest of Roseman to Santa Monica Pier at the dead end of the famous Route 66, there is a world to do for apartment dwellers.  There are several recreational opportunities nearby at Whittier Narrows Dam Recreation Area. While at Whitter your can enjoy the equestrian facility, trails, a military museum, volleyball courts, soccer fields, a golf course and much more.

Any annual festivals or Rosemead events to know?

Perhaps the best-known festival in Rosemead is its Moon Festival. The event is a traditional Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival brings families together and is a symbol of prosperity and peace. Cultural performances, great food, a variety of merchandise vendors and activities for the whole family can be found at Rosemead’s Moon Festival.

Where are the nearby vacation spots?

There are several airports within easy driving distance or by shuttle. These include  Hollywood Burbank Airport (18.4 miles), Long Beach Airport (18.7 miles), Los Angeles International Airport (21.5 miles), and Ontario International Airport (27.1 miles). Vacation sites like Las Vegas are a short flight away but there several great weekend getaway destinations. A few of these include:  Palm Springs – Less than a two-hour drive from Los Angeles and even closer to Rosemead this Palm Springs has been a popular desert getaway for almost a century. Not only is there great golf but the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway takes visitors 8,500 feet up into the cool mountains in ten minutes. Once you depart the Tramway you are met by a spectacular view, a restaurant, and over 50 miles of hiking trails. Catalina Island – About a two-hour drive and a 90-minute Catalina Express ferry ride from Rosemead, the island is an ideal place to get away from the rat race and unwind. Once on the island, you will find great beaches, natural areas to explore, sea kayaking among whales and sea otters, a wide selection of restaurants, the Zip Line Eco Tour that takes you through an eco rich canyon, and the  Portofino Hotel with its fantastic ocean views. Solvang – This small city just north of Santa Barbara is a day trip away from Rosemead. When you arrive, you will find a California two awash in Danish history. Immigrants from Denmark settled here in 1911, bringing with them Danish food, shops, and a determination to forever escape the cold weather of their former home. Along with Danish Danish and windmills, Solvang has a Hans Christian Andersen Museum, and the Elverhoj Museum of Danish History. But you’ll still know this is Southern California with the town’s Mission Santa Inés and a very cool vintage motorcycle museum.
