Façade
July 12, 2022One star for Location. Unfortunately it's a façade. Massive flooding from the 12th floor to lobby made our apartment unlivable for 10 days and they were still giving tours those 10 days! Even after 10 days, "livable" meant the 17 fans were removed from the unit and the electrical was repaired so we had overhead lights again after several inches of water poured from the floor above and flooded 80% of the unit. Our baseboards and toe kicks were ripped out. I had to beg them to put temporary toe ...kicks back under the cupboards so my cat didn't get snagged on exposed nails. We had a big hole cut in the drywall of our ceiling for months. A cupboard door fell off and I had to live for months with a suitcase in the kitchen blocking it so my cat wouldn't get into the chemicals under the sink. Repairs to our apartment took 3 months only after strongly worded maintenance requests. Communication during that time was almost nonexistent with generic emails kicking the stone down the road as far as progress. Almost four months later common areas and elevators are still under construction with one elevator and the package room still completely closed. This happened three months after a 25% rent increase and gym renovations taking 8 instead of 3 months then equipment broken for almost a year. Icing on the cake is construction starting on Republic Tower immediately across the street rendering our balcony unusable due to the massive amounts of dust kicked up. The construction company thinks they can flout the rules and work all hours of night and day, as early as 5:30am on weekends and random bouts of work at 3am. The noise during the day makes working from home more difficult as well.
