The east side of the apartments is awful. There is a broken pool no one uses, the “playground” is falling apart: the swings are not even in the ground. Everything within the apartments is broken. When maintenance is called they give you a cheap repair and call it a day: or simply never come and say they finished.

Lived here for 4 years. It used to be a nice community, quiet, and safe. After the changes in property owners and management in 2019 there are clearly more residents who are creating problems, being very confrontational, violent even. Numerous adolescent kids are always out late into the night unsupervised looking for trouble. Graffiti and property damage is increasing rapidly. The Carrboro police are here much more than we've ever seen. There are junk cars sitting in the parking lot.. We just ...
don't have the feeling we are safe or living in a complex that values quality of life for its residents. We are quite disappointed in the quality of people living here and will be moving out after our lease. We are quiet peaceable people and feel it is only going to get worse. I do not recommend this apartment complex as it is now.

We have been living at Berkshire 54 for past 3 months and have found the staff very kind, friendly and helpful.
Our work orders are attended to in a timely and satisfactory way. We particularly enjoy the well kept swimming pool and appreciate it.

Great location, I work at the hospital which is just a 10 minute drive down 54. The updated apartment has nice internal amenities, the staff is very helpful, and the pool is great during the summer!

Clean apartments in good shape, for a reasonable price, in a safe, quiet location. The pool and grilling area is great, as is the dog park. Staff is very responsive and helpful, and the complex is a nice mix of families, graduate students, and young professionals. Is on the bus line, close to grocery store, banking, and gas, and the proximity to 54 puts you at 5 minutes from downtown Carrboro, 10 from downtown Chapel Hill, and 20-30 from downtown Durham. Lived here 2 years and cannot wait till move out day! If you like being woken up early on week days with knocking maintenance doing repairs w/very little warning, lawn mowers and leaf blowers, barking dogs or loud music from the club adjacent to the pool (thats rarely open, especially if you work a 9-5), and bug problems,then enjoy! But between and during the transition from the prior management company to now has literally made this place a very uncomfortable, noisy and disruptive place to live. ...
Every week we're given a notice on our doors, right on the cusp of closing office hours (so complaints go unheard or cared about) that yet another cheap "repair" will happen within the home, and to lock our pets up-and there is no specified time, they give an extremely inconvenient and broad time frame. Not only have I endured sleep loss and quality of life disturbances, but our pets have and my 1 month old baby has too. Windows have all fallen apart (costing a fortune in electric bill), made several inquiries about them, all to no avail. Mold growing in bathroom from faulty shower install--again not fixed; ceiling paint coming down in huge chips by vents--again, not addressed; drawers in kitchen are broken; pretty much every door, from closets to sliding have either become unhinged or have come out of the tracks. Place lures you in by showing off the grounds and the one very well kempt and "fluffed" apartment, but buyer beware--the cheap materials and low grade construct of this place will have you in regrets.
