Camden Noda - Pretty building, terrible move out process
October 3, 2024Let me start by saying that the building of Camden Noda, the amenities, and the initial leasing process was great. The building is modern, features a fantastic pool, and gym. I cannot be more disappointed, however, with the move out process. When speaking with the leasing team, it was communicated as if all we had to do was give our 60 day notice, pay through those 2 months, and pay a cleaning fee. I am now finding that we now owe both a cancellation fee (which had seemed like it was included ...in that 60 day notice cost), and paying back a prorated month we got for free when signing. It was never mentioned that we would owe these when we spoke verbally. That is basically paying 2 months rent for nothing. The office did not mention any of this when we asked about breaking our lease. Had I known this, I would have just kept the lease going, as it's basically the same as what I would have to pay if I had just kept the unit through the end of the lease. Although living in a Camden building the last few years has mostly been a positive experience, I feel there should have been more guidance from the leasing staff on what would actually be owed and our options for moving out (instead of being buried deep in the leasing agreement). I hope this review helps others in the future who do rent to ensure you carefully read your agreement when you go to exit your lease.
