I am in a 1 bedroom with a loft. At move in the shower did not work properly. It was Saturday so I waited until a weekday to have it repaired. I think they should have checked everything before I moved in. The virtual tour shows a ceiling fan in the loft. There is not one, so the loft is very hot. The complex is old, so there are odd things. For instance, the shower knob is wrong. Cold is the hot water, hot is the cold water. There is packing tape holding things together under the dishwasher. ...

There is also packing tape holding things together on the front door. The verticle blinds for the sliding glass door have pieces missing and don't work very well. The pool broke as soon as I moved in and was closed for the rest of summer. The dumpster is in the middle of the complex, so sometimes the parking lot smells. As soon as I enter the complex my phone drops from 5G to 4G. So I don't have great phone service.

Living at Elms 2019-2021

I lived at Elms for about two years. I transferred from one unit to another within the two years. I’ll start off with describing what the pros & cons, as any apartment complex will have. The pros include how wonderful the community is with the amount of trails, schools, restaurants, parks & stores there are. The apartments felt very home like, which we loved. Very spacious! stained, not working & damaged. From the wall to floor to other items in the apartment we noticed were all cheap material. Paint chips off easily and the carpet is already old to start off. We had a good transition transferring to another unit but when it came for us to leave the complex, it got a little complicated. Our second unit had damages prior to us moving in that we wrote on a checklist to the leasing office (we even took photos). Come time to leave, management charges additional fees to items that were already damaged. The last con to it all would be the communication from management. It wasn’t the best but it wasn’t horrible. Overall I would just recommend to new renters to be observant (document everything!) of the apartment you get as they will try to get $$ for the already damaged items in your unit.

I’ve lived in this community for a little over a year and it’s the first place that really felt like home. The maintenance team is respectful, helpful and responsive. Hidden gem in Northern VA

I have been living here in a one bedroom apartment for over a year. After touring many complexes in this area and renting in northern Virginia for some time, The Elms is a hidden gem. very helpful and accommodating. There really is a sense of community here which I did not expect when I first moved in nor was I really looking for but it happened to be a nice perk. I actually know a few of my neighbors for once. The office is very good about organizing community events for all ages and sending out monthly newsletters. I have also noticed that the community is very dog and pet friendly. I appreciate how communicative the office has been, especially this past year with the pandemic.

Perfect Place To Call Home

I moved to this community back in January with my boyfriend and we love our apartment. We picked this area because the location is very convenient for both of our jobs, even though we are working from home now. Which the maintenance team is very accommodating to our work schedule if we have a service request. Even with the pandemic, we appreciate the office's efforts to find creative ways to host events. I’m so happy I moved here! I am close to so much shopping, entertainment, the metro, every day needs really. The apartment is so spacious and has everything and more I could have wanted. Parking is never an issue and they have a lot of amenities like the Amazon HUB which makes shopping online so easy. The team is really friendly and easy to work with, and very quick to respond to any request I have. I can’t think of anyway this community could be better!

Do not move here

I have lived here 4 years because it is close to my job. I am moving this year. The office people are rude, they come into your apartments without notice. They took a month to come out to fix the leak in the ceiling. The electrician is an idiot they put the light switch in upside down. The heater had to be replaced the first month I changed units.

I am a big fan of apartment shopping for bigger better deals but The Elms just knows how to treat their tenants as appreciated members of the community. Vijil is the superstar of the leasing office and has always been very responsive to any questions, issues, or concerns I had about anything. The maintenance staff here is great and they promptly follow-up on any requests. We recently had heavy snowfall and they cleared the sidewalks and parking areas immediately. year. Vijil offered me a clean apartment and it has been that way for over a year now. I like the way The Elms are very diligent on keeping everything clean and making sure the heating/cooling systems are ready for the seasons to come. I like the quiet neighborhood and the proximity of places nearby (Franconia Blue Line Station, Springfield Mall, Walmart, Shoppers, etc.). You really don't have to go far to get what you need. I sold my house in August 2018 and moved here. My experience with the staff here has been wonderful from the day I moved in. Very courteous and friendly. Everything is kept clean and safe. I love it here and highly recommend it!!!
