Best Apartment Management Team Ever!!

This is without a doubt the best apartment management team ever. I want to thank Amy for her diligent attention to the residents needs and fair judgements, and Josh for his friendly and kind demeanor, as well as his fantastic treatment do the residents. My wife and I have called the Heights at Meridian home for going on four years, and we can’t think of a better place to call home. Way to go Amy and Josh you guys rock so hard!!

Charged $1100 at move-out

We toured the property with David and loved the design of the apartments and the tranquility of the lake. After moving in, we noticed the lack of management And oversight. I reached out to David regarding an issue and found out he was no longer there. Before moving out, a wall-thru was scheduled with a maintenance man we had come to know as he had come for a maintenance request previously and was friendly with our dog. He stated the apartment looked great and we didn’t need to do anything and ...

We cleaned thoroughly (we only ended up furnishing and using one of the bedrooms) and left the apartment in amazing condition so when we handed the keys to the manager and she didn’t request to see the apartment we didn’t think anything of it because maintenance said everything looked great. However we never received our security deposit back and found out later after moving out of state that they had billed us $1100 for replacing carpet. We were shocked. Only the 2 bedrooms had carpet, the remaining floors were laminate and I said we only used and furnished one bedroom as we had expected to setup for guests. We had cleaned and left the apartment in great condition, we literally thought they mixed us up with someone else. The managers explanation was the maintenance guy thought the carpet looked good but it needed to be replaced, not cleaned but replaced. Outrageous. I believe they charge pet owners upon move-out to make money. Our dog is 6 yrs old, is very well trained and had never ever soiled the floors since he was 4 month old so this whole ordeal makes no sense (not that they accused of soiling it but I cannot understand how they justify it). I would NOT recommend Meridian. Save your money and look for a more responsible community to live in.

Staff used to be very responsive and pleasant. Lately they've been abrupt if not outright rude. I've sent 2 emails in the last week and have not received the courtesy of a response to either. There are live and dead Cockroaches throughout the hallways because tenants leave their garbage out all day long even though it's supposed to be only in the evenings awaiting valet trash. Large drunken parties at the pool are an issue. Multiple screaming rednecks unchecked even when staff are on duty. The ...

My fiancé and I toured this apartment months ago, scouting the Durham area for potential places. We both were amazed by the complex and most importantly David was so nice and sincere. We were for certain once the time came around to move this was the place, David’s niceness really sealed the deal for us both. I called back in today and I was was shocked by the unprofessionalism from the leasing specialist that I spoke with. I really wish David was still part of the staff.

overpriced

YES. It is very beautiful and, yes, the staff is very nice and professional. The apartments have attractive crown molding, high ceilings, granite style countertops, and brand new appliances. The grounds are pretty and well-lit at night, and the amenities, such as a salt-water pool, walking trails, valet trash service, online payments, etc. all are awesome. You would think it would be worth it to pay a little extra for all of that. There have been a few little problems like the online payment ...
system not working from time to time, the security gates not working for a few weeks last year, trash not always getting picked up, a communication mix-up about permission to enter my apartment, etc. BUT. I have personally witnessed ongoing criminal activity here, on the property. Sad because it is such a nice place, but true. The building itself is cheaply made. I can hear my neighbors coughing. Really. If I happen to be using the toilet at the same time as my upstairs neighbor... guess what? Kinda gross, but true. Many of my neighbors like to party, LOUDLY. There is no one to call but the police, since the on-site security person doesn't seem to exist anymore. (?) In fact, it seems that several of my neighbors don't understand that they are living in what is supposed to be an upscale community. For example, I came home a few days ago to see what looked like someone's entire week's worth of laundry laid out to dry on their balcony. Classy. Straight across the pretty pond and fountain is a parking lot where people like to gather late at night and blast "music." To be fair, this is not technically apartment property, so I'm not sure they can do anything about it. I don't know if I would recommend this property or not. Maybe a residents's experience varies from building to building, but for me it's been pretty trying.

Hidden Surprises

Good morning! After reading some of the reviews regarding the property not being what they thought, I wanted to also confirm some of the facts. Although the apartments looks like at first glance, the walls are very thin and some of the materials they used are very cheap. The pain in the bathrooms cannot even get a splash of water on them or it will look stained after a while. The security gates are inoperable. They are always breaking down and some of them will even open if you pull on it hard ...
enough. So much for feeling safe. Beware the hidden fees. If you have a pet, they will make you replace the carpet at the end. For the cost of replacement, you would think the carpet was high quality to begin with. It definitely is not that. The amenities are nice and the maintenance staff were pretty good. The management team were not good communicators and please be sure to double check your documents since errors can definitely be found.

If you had asked me a year ago to write a review about this apartment you would have heard nothing but good things. Even after out first week living there and having electrical issue, we chalked it up to it being a new and needing a little tweaking here and there. time to inform any future renters what exactly to expect. If you are looking to bring a pet to these apartments, please note that you are almost guaranteed a ~$1,200 bill at the end of the lease. This charge is to replace the carpet for the entire apartment, that’s right you are replacing the carpet no matter condition. Also expect a threat to go straight to collections if bill is not paid in what they consider a timely manner, leaving little time to actually dispute the claim.

The apartments at Heights at Meridian are visually beautiful - granite countertops, great views, stainless steel appliances. The construction is not super nice - our carpet is coming up in corners, nails sticking up, thin walls. But, the amenities, style, and overall atmosphere/ location make it a great place to live.

Nice Ameneties, High Quality, High Price, NOT Pet Friendly

We moved into the brand new apartments at The Heights at Meridian back in August 2014 when construction was just being finished. We of course were awe-struck by the newness and clean feel of the modern styled two bedroom apartments. The office employees were cheerful and so was the maintenance crew, yet maintenance did have to be called several times due to our apartment power being shut off several times due to a faulty exterior locked breaker that was eventually replaced. apartments were great with plenty of closet place and large kitchens, but the contractors did a sloppy job in the bathroom tiling and carpet installation. Community amenities are great with a nice big salt water pool, plenty of island style cabana chairs, two propane grills that don't heat evenly, and a clubhouse with nice decor and a modern gym. The free breakfast M-F they try to sell you on is really just a gallon of milk, a box of cereal, and packaged pastries, yet the free coffee machine is great! Now for the fun stuff!! About one month into the lease we decided to get our first puppy! No big deal right? Well turns out that when we decided to move out recently, the apartment management company has a policy where if they find any urine traces, even after they've been clean on the top of the carpet, they need to replace the entire carpet in the apartment for "hypo-allergenic reasons". We get sent a bill for $1200 and they don't use any of your pet fees for the carpet replacement plus they threaten collections on you if you don't pay quick. Overall, the apartment experience at Meridian was nice, if not very overpriced for the area, and that last stab at us with a carpet replacement fee needs to be mentioned up front to all pet owners. So please don't plan to live here if you want a pet or have a pet now, unless you want to save up the extra $1200 at the end of your stay.
