Nostalgia for Saxony

I miss my lush lawn, and the choruses of birds overheard. I miss the beautiful, quiet little streets just a few steps away from Central, where you can watch a parade or drop by the cool shops at Uptown. I miss the quick responses when repairs were requested! Saxony is a very old property, so things sometimes peter out on you-- but EVERY time, a repairman scampered over the next day, and EVERY time they did a fantastic, thorough job. In my fancy, expensive new apartment in Mesa, I don't have ...
enough hot water to draw a bath, and my appliances flicker off and on. That never happened at Saxony! The maintenance guy at my fancy new digs responded with, essentially, "Well, sucks to be you." (Confession: I also miss my awesome neighbors and the friendly colony of feral cats at Saxony.) Looking to rent at Saxony? I envy you.

Great location but poor management

I have lived at this complex for almost a year. The location is wonderful and is what attracted me most. Not every unit has been remodeled. Mine in particular looks like it was within the last couple of years, but only the minimum (laminate “wood” and cheap counter tops). Everything else about it seems to be the original, including the windows which unfortunately resulted in a very high electric bill over the summer, even with my AC at 78 only when I was home after the work day. Since moving in ...
the dryer, toilet, and garbage disposal have all broken. Maintainence took anywhere from 4 days to 2.5 weeks to complete each repair. There is no office or property manager on site and they are extremely hard to get a hold of. Multiple neighbors have complained of packages being stolen and the homeless sleeping on the property because the front gate to the complex doesn’t lock. There is a pool but no outdoor bbq or bike rack.
